Energy Solutions (ES) is hiring a full-time Data Engineer II to join the Information Systems team. This role will contribute to crucial projects aimed at building a unified data platform, supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization by creating a single source of truth for ES's internal data. The position offers the opportunity to lead the design and implementation of infrastructure for internal reporting needs, enhancing operational efficiencies and supporting our expansion to a global team of over 1,000 employees.

ES promotes a remote-friendly environment for employees throughout the U.S., with office locations available in Oakland and Orange, California, Portland, Boston, Massachusetts, New York, and Chicago, Illinois, for those preferring an in-office option.

 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

· Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions aligned with business objectives

· Analyze data sources and design scalable data pipelines and ETL processes with Python, SQL, and AWS technologies

· Develop and maintain data warehouses, optimizing data storage and retrieval

· Build and populate schemas, automate reporting processes, and document technical specifications, ETL processes, data mappings, and data dictionaries

· Support the Data Science Center of Excellence (DSCOE) in data engineering initiatives

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Physics/Engineering, Business, or Mathematics

· Experience building ETL pipelines; real-time pipelines are a plus

· Proficiency in Python and SQL

· At least 4 years of experience in data warehouse development with a strong foundation in dimensional data modeling

· 4+ years of experience in SQL query creation and ETL design, implementation, and maintenance

· 4+ years of experience developing data pipelines in Python and with AWS services like S3, Redshift, and RDS

· Strong analytical skills with experience handling diverse datasets

· Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

· Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and work independently

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Ability to communicate data warehouse plans to non-technical audiences

· Expertise in architecting secure AWS environments

· Experience with BI tools like Tableau and Looker

· Strong problem-solving skills for data quality issues

· Self-motivated, quick learner, and experienced with large data sets, cloud development, and open-source frameworks

 

Compensation to commensurate with experience with the pay band of  $110k - $130k/Annually
