- Full Time/Part Time: Part Time
- Hours: Monday-Friday, nights 11pm-47:30am, e/o week-end and rotating holidays. :
A Brief Overview:
The Medical Technologist cultivates, isolates and assists in identifying bacterial and other micro-organisms present in body fluids, exudates, skin scrapings or autopsy and surgical specimens. Performs various bacteriological, mycological, parasitological and immunological tests to provide data on the diagnosis, cause, and progression of disease.
What you will do:
- Inoculates, cultivates and assists in identifying bacterial and other microorganisms found in body fluids, exudates, skin scrapings, or autopsy and surgical specimens. Performs various bacteriological, mycological, immunological, and parasitological tests to provide data on cause and progress of disease.
- Reviews test results for accuracy and notifies appropriate clinical personnel of all critical results. Documents this notification per established protocols.
- Recognizes abnormal or unusual test results and makes appropriate decision about releasing those results. Notifies supervisor or pathologist if necessary.
- Performs routine and advanced maintenance procedures on all instrumentation they operate, according to schedule and procedure and documents appropriately.
- Assists with the education and training of MT/MLT students, Fellows or Residents when assigned by Supervisor/Manager or Director.
- May perform chain of custody drug screen collections and/or breath alcohol analysis to include analysis and completion of forms according to regulatory guidelines.
- Maintains adequate level of supplies, restocks as needed, and notifies supervisor of inventory needs; checks in and documents use of new reagents as needed.
What you will need:
- Associates Degree Medical Technology Required
- 4 Years experience in a comparable healthcare setting of moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate preferred.
- 2 Years experience within the company performing moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate required.
- Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Required
