Education required: Undergraduate studying a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, open to all disciplines including Engineering, Industrial System, Business Administration, Arts & Social Science (Economics)

Other requirements: Must be enrolled at a SG university for the duration of your internship and must be doing a credit-bearing internship.

Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

Internship period: January to June 2025

What will you do?

The intern will perform capacity planning for the site’s storage facilities, which involves visualizing and analyzing data, as well as recommending solutions to circumvent anticipated storage challenges. They will also participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce cost and ensure campaign readiness.

What will you learn?

Capacity Planning for Storage Facilities

  • Utilize forecasting tools (Power BI and Excel) to map out demand and supply of raw materials with reference to data on the site’s Production Plan, Bill of Materials, Current Inventory, and Open Purchase Orders

  • Understand and utilize the site Production Plan to develop a corresponding warehouse space utilization plan

  • Perform Impact Assessments on storage capacity when there are anticipated changes to the Production Plan

  • Analyze capacity forecasts to identify time periods where facilities are expected to experience a capacity shortage, identify solutions to manage such challenges, and evaluate their feasibility

Engineering Spares and Lab Chemicals Management

  • Manage the inventory of Engineering Spares using automated storage solutions (Rotomat and Lean Lift) that expedite the processes of Cycle Counting, Binning and Goods Issuance, at the touch of a button – with potential for future implementation of RFID technology

  • Perform data analysis on the consumption patterns, reorder points and lead times of Lab Chemicals, and migrate data into the SAP system

Improve Delivery Performance of Suppliers and Ensure Campaign Readiness of Raw Materials

  • Visualize delivery performance of suppliers providing goods to GSK.

  • Build a robust system to manage GSK contracts with suppliers.

  • Visualize campaign readiness based on availability of raw materials.

  • Develop a robust process to monitor and review stocking levels of raw materials to support campaigns.

What are we looking for?

  • A lively interest in supply chain operations, commercial processes, and the biopharma industry

  • A keen appetite to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and business partners.

  • Adaptability to change and ability to work under pressure

  • Excellent communication skills to influence and build cordial relationships with the team and key business partners

  • Strong problem-solving skills driven by curiosity

  • Confidence in making judgments and decisions

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks according to deadlines

  • Experience in programming (VBA Macros, Python) and data visualization (Power BI) preferred, though not required
