About The Role

Reporting to the Underwriting Team Lead, the Marketing Assistant is responsible for supporting employee benefits underwriters in preparing plan analysis for existing and prospective clients through administrative service. Ideal candidate should have strong communication and organizational skills, a background in employee benefits, excellent attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the underwriter to determine reporting and presentation needs.
  • Request, obtain, and comprehend utilization reporting for client renewal and maintenance.
  • Request or obtain group census from service teams or online enrollment platforms.
  • Manipulate census data into carrier acceptable format/appropriate tier structure as needed.
  • Build clients in online carrier quoting platforms and proficiently run quotes as needed.
  • Precisely and proficiently review presentation materials as needed.
  • Request plan information from service teams required for benchmarking.
  • Benchmarking plans by industry and employer size with national, regional, and state plans.
  • Create presentation material templates and update internal savings tracking/dashboard reporting.
  • Use agency management systems proficiently to document communications and tasks performed.

Requirements: 

  • Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills including correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation in correspondence. 
  • Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, responsive and self-motivated.
  • Exceptional math skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, producing accurate materials with minimal errors. 
  • Understanding of insurance concepts and applicable law as it related to employee benefits. 
  • Ability to muti-task and adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to learn new software programs. 
  • Works well with minimal supervision; able to function independently and as part of a team. 
  • Pleasant and positive attitude.

Education/Experience:

  • College degree or 2 years of experience in Employee Benefit Insurance
  • Michigan Life & Health Insurance licensed, or commitment to obtain within 90 days.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
