We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Analyst to join our Search and Ranking team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing the performance of our search and ranking algorithms to ensure we deliver the most relevant deals to our customers. You will work with large datasets, develop insights, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decisions that enhance the customer experience.
Position Overview:
As a Technical Project Manager at Groupon, you will play a crucial role in driving complex projects that enhance our dynamic pricing strategies, promotional systems, and search relevance algorithms. Reporting to the Director of Decision Science, you will oversee the execution of these projects by working closely with internal engineering teams and external application providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret large datasets using SQL and other data analysis tools to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization in our search and ranking systems.
Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and measure the effectiveness of search and ranking algorithms.
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to design and implement data-driven strategies that improve search relevance and ranking accuracy.
Conduct in-depth analyses to understand user behavior, search performance, and the impact of ranking changes on business outcomes.
Use strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Exhibit intellectual curiosity by continuously exploring new data sources, methodologies, and techniques to enhance the quality of insights.
Handle ambiguity and adapt to changing business needs, making informed decisions with limited information when necessary.
Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner, supporting decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics) or equivalent work experience.
Strong SQL skills with experience working with big data in an eCommerce or similar environment.
Proven ability to analyze complex datasets, develop actionable insights, and drive business results.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Minimum 5 years experience in eCommerce or a related industry.
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
