Reporting to the Manager of Tax, the Senior Tax Accountant is an experienced member of the Tax Department and is primarily responsible for income and franchise tax calculations, including tax provision workpapers, tax compliance workpapers and returns, and fixed asset computations. This role will be part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment whose focus is on development and career fulfillment of its teammates.

  • Assist the Senior Manager of Tax with tax credit and incentive research and documentation.  This includes partnering with our construction team to gather information for store locations. 

  • Prepare and maintain tax fixed asset ledger and calculations. Perform quarterly analysis of tax treatment of fixed assets for provision and prepare both federal book-tax and federal-state differences.  Prepare federal and state annual fixed asset compliance reporting schedules.  This includes utilizing Alteryx to verify the output using analytics.

  • Assist with completion of income tax compliance matters: review various book-tax difference calculations, review federal income tax returns and forms, review state apportionment, review quarterly estimate vouchers and extension forms and review calculations.  Review state income tax returns prepared by outside consultants.

  • Participate and assist with tax planning and strategic projects.   Apply research skills to determine appropriate tax treatment.   Communicate with and inform across members of the tax team, and other departments.  

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of state tax laws, legislation, and current developments affecting the company. Monitor and analyze newly enacted legislation to minimize and accurately report the company’s taxes. Communicate the tax impacts of the legislative developments to the income tax team.  This analysis will be used quarterly to update our provision for income taxes reported in the 10-K/10-Q.

  • Assist with maintaining legal entity structure compliance.  This includes partnering with accounting and legal teams to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Manage and develop direct report (Tax Administrator). Coach through the review of property tax and business license reporting through consistent communication and partnered training. Develop direct report’s tax technical skills and inspire creative problem solving. Foster an environment that enables career growth and fulfillment of tax department teammates and inspire a culture of teamwork that facilitates collaboration within the department and with other business functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years experience
