Job Summary

Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, the Lead Laboratory Courier ensures Laboratory Couriers report to work and that vehicles are road ready. Takes steps to ensure Laboratory Couriers are set up to complete their work assignment for the day. May fill in as a Laboratory Courier as needed.

                         

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling:  Ensures daily preparation and readiness of available lab couriers.  This includes attendance check and vehicle readiness for the day.
  • Conducts daily huddle with team.
  • Communicates immediate and routine vehicle repairs. 
  • Conducts daily reviews pre/post trip inspection sheets and checks for vehicle cleanliness.
  • Ensures required courier paperwork is submitted and reviewed.
  • Provides scanner/equipment support and maintains working knowledge of courier scanner. 
  • Assists with training requirements.
  • Maintains and stocks driver material inventory.
  • Provides clerical support
  • Fills in as Laboratory Courier as needed (I09003)
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Certifications:

  • Must have a valid state driver’s license (VDL), a good driving record, obtain and maintain eligibility as determined by CCF’s insurance carrier’s requirements to operate Foundation vehicles

Complexity of Work:

  • Ability to work independently, multitask, organize and prioritize operational needs for the day.
  • Good working knowledge of geographical area, ability to read maps and follow directions.
  • Must have excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to work with team and support management staff.

Work Experience:

  • Two years of experience as a courier. 
  • Knowledge of lab routes and specimen transport preferred.
  • Proven leadership ability in customer focused positions.
  • Computer skills required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include full body motion including ability to lift and transport medium weight materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to spend long hours driving and working in all weather conditions
  • Ability to sit at desk
  • Ability to conduct deliveries and pick-ups at client locations.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
