Why this role is important?

Reporting to the Vice President, Healthcare Partnership Development and Growth, the Sr. Director will play a critical leadership role in driving the success and expansion of SDM’s strategic partnerships in health. This senior position is primarily responsible for the strategic oversight, management, and growth of our existing portfolio of key healthcare partnerships, including payers, providers, and other stakeholders within the Canadian healthcare system. The Sr. Director will also be responsible for identifying and developing new, high-potential strategic partnerships.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring partner satisfaction, maximizing the value of these relationships, identifying new growth avenues (both within existing partnerships and through new collaborations), and optimizing the financial performance of the partnership portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of the Canadian healthcare landscape, exceptional relationship management skills, and a proven ability to deliver measurable results in both maintaining and expanding our partner ecosystem.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for managing and nurturing a portfolio of high-value healthcare partnerships, ensuring alignment with SDM's strategic objectives.
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and secure opportunities to expand existing partnerships, including new service offerings, geographies, or enhanced collaboration models.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to key partners, ensuring their needs are met, and identifying opportunities to enhance their experience and the overall success of the partnership.
  • Oversee the financial performance of the partnership portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives to optimize profitability.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the Canadian healthcare ecosystem, including regulatory changes, market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities across payers, providers, and employers.
  • Work closely with internal cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of partnership initiatives and delivery of partner commitments.
  • Lead complex negotiations for partnership renewals, expansions, and new agreements, ensuring favourable terms and long-term viability.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for partnerships, providing regular reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of partnership professionals, fostering a culture of growth mindset and collaborative candor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred). 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic partnership management, business development, or key account management in healthcare.
  • Demonstrated deep knowledge and understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, including its various stakeholders and regulatory environment.
  • Proven track record of managing and optimizing P&L for a significant business unit, with a clear understanding of financial drivers and strategic levers.
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with senior-level executives and key decision-makers.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
