About the role
The Strategic Portfolio Leader for Innovative Medicine Supply Chain is a senior, cross-functional role charged with responsible for defining, prioritizing, and optimizing a portfolio of supply chain initiatives to maximize strategic impact, financial return, and organizational agility. This leader translates corporate strategy into a balanced investment roadmap, governs portfolio decision-making, and drives outcomes across product, R&D, commercial, and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

·       Define and maintain the portfolio strategy and roadmap aligned with company goals, market opportunity, and risk appetite.

Lead portfolio prioritization and investment decision processes using data-driven frameworks.

Establish and run portfolio governance: stage-gate processes, prioritization forums, and executive reporting.

Monitor portfolio performance and optimize resource allocation to maximize ROI, time-to-market, and strategic balance.

Develop scenario planning and portfolio-level financial forecasts, sensitivity analyses, and business cases for major investments.

Identify, assess, and mitigate portfolio-level risks and dependencies; ensure contingency planning.

Coach and mentor project leads and cross-functional leaders on portfolio discipline and best practices.

Drive continuous improvement of portfolio tools, metrics, and decision workflows.

Communicate portfolio status, trade-offs, and strategic rationale clearly to senior leadership and stakeholders.

 

Core qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

8–15+ years of relevant experience with progressive responsibility in strategy, product, portfolio management, corporate development, or program leadership.

Proven track record of leading multi-product or multi-project portfolios and making high-stakes investment decisions.

Strong financial acumen: experience with business cases, NPV/IRR, P&L impact, and portfolio-level forecasting.

Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.

 

Preferred experience

·       Experience in Supply Chain Management.

Background in product management, corporate strategy, M&A, or PMO operations.

Experience implementing portfolio management tools (e.g., Planview, Aha!, Jira Align, Microsoft Project Online) and governance frameworks.

Familiarity with supply chain planning and control systems (SAP APO/S4HANA, Kinaxis, Blue Yonder, Anaplan, control tower platforms) and serialization vendors.

·       Familiarity with Agile scaling frameworks (SAFe, LeSS) and lean portfolio management concepts.
