Summary

The Team Lead of Cybersecurity Operations is responsible for overseeing the cybersecurity operations and leading a team of cybersecurity professionals. This role involves developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures to protect the organization’s information systems and data. 

Challenges and Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of cybersecurity professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork within the team.

Security Operations:

  • Oversee developing and maintaining cybersecurity operations processes, standards, and architectures.
  • Manage relationship and service level agreements with security vendors and a third-party security operations center (SOC).
  • Direct assessments of mixed platform environments, including systems, networks, databases, and applications.
  • Lead change management, operational readiness, and performance delivery for cybersecurity solutions.

Engineering and Operations:

  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and upgrade security measures to protect the organization’s data, systems, and networks.
  • Troubleshoot security and network problems.
  • Lead technical response to any system or network security incidents.
  • Work to strengthen the organization's cybersecurity posture through security system enhancements and additions.

Skills and Requirements

  • Proficient in security technologies and tools.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of security professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems commonly deployed in enterprise networks.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and current security practices.
  • Experience in incident response and forensics.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.

Experience

  • Relevant degree (e.g., Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GIAC, SANS, CISM, GCIA, II, IAT, CSSP-A, or CISA are desirable.
  • Five plus years of cybersecurity engineering or operations experience.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, incident management, and response protocols.
