We are looking for a Business Development Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.
Your Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for business development (BD) and marketing within the Defense Business Segment. The BD engineer will work closely with engineering and contracts to assist in the evaluation of potential opportunities, along with the development of ROMs and proposals for new business. The Business Development Engineer may also be required to respond to customer requests for information strategic to the Business Segment (Surveys, Questionnaires, Formal RFIs, etc.), with input from other organizations.
Responsibilities will center on executing EMDs strategic initiatives for long term growth in the defense industry. Ability to clearly present complex information to potential customers about EMD products is a must. In addition to strong communication skills, the BD engineer must be capable of driving/leading customer engagements and proposals.

Your Challenge:
Support interaction with customers (internal & external) for all aspects of strategic initiatives, including customer meetings, presentations, and written communications.
Develop/Maintain relationships with key points of contact from industry.
Attend trade shows, conferences, and be an active member of defense industrial base coalitions in support of customer engagement and industry trends.
Maintain close involvement with proposal teams and drive decisions as required to ensure project award.
Lead stage gates for new opportunities.
Support and/or lead proposal activities including market assessments, accurate engineering scope definition, risk assessment and proposal writing
Collaborate with EMD engineering management team in manpower assignments and engineering process improvements/implementation
Collaborate and actively engage with engineering teams and contract administrators to support customer engagement and/or proposals.
Provide assistance in the areas of predictability, manufacturing processing, equipment and process improvement
What You Bring:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (preferred)
Strong technical aptitude in machine design and a broad knowledge of EMD product lines
Minimum of five years of engineering experience in a design and production environment is preferred
Experience with proposals is preferred
Demonstrated experience with customer communication (presentations, calls, etc.)
Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating a technical team
Must be sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
Travel: 15-25% travel expected
