Job Summary
The System Compensation Director directs the activities of professional staff who: conduct job analysis; prepare job descriptions; market price jobs; facilitate and track annual merit and promotional increases; participate in compensation surveys, analyze results to determine the organization's competitive position, and develop recommendations for merit budget planning. The System Compensation Director serves as a consultant to senior management regarding compensation policies, programs, and issues.
Essential Functions
Designs base, variable pay, bonus and incentive pay programs and policies.
Manages the compilation of compensation data for submission to local, regional, and national salary surveys, and directs the analysis of information to determine the organization's competitive position.
Manages the annual merit budget planning and review process.
Manages the salary administration programs including market pricing, and the development and maintenance of formal job grades and salary ranges.
Develops materials necessary for presentations regarding compensation initiatives to the Board of Directors' and its Compensation Committee.
Directs the development of communications associated with compensation activities. Prepares and updates policies and procedures affecting compensation.
Directs the activities of professional staff. Facilitates the training and continuing education of staff members. Provides direction and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Establishes work standards. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.
Counsels’ management as to effective administration within compensation guidelines. Anticipates customer needs and manages the provision of services to all customers. Ensures that staff responds to requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's Degree.
10 years of relevant experience managing compensation plans and programs.
Experience in the design, development, and implementation of alternative rewards.
Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Corewell Health.
Preferred:
Master's Degree.
5 years’ experience in a healthcare system.
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
