Job Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Parking Operations Field Supervisor, the Field Specialist operates a staff vehicle to conduct parking space inventory audits, surface lots, and produce accurate reporting to leadership to support parking operations. Provides exceptional customer service by assisting guests with real-time parking availability information, performing courtesy patrol services, and addressing parking-related concerns in garages and surface lots.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates a staff vehicle equipped with Mobile License Plate Inventory (MLPI) systems and software to track parking occupancy and conduct physical parking audits.
  • Conducts daily vehicle counts and submits occupancy reports to the Field Support Lead.
  • Monitors parking guidance systems, signage, and variable message boards for accuracy, and reports discrepancies for resolution.
  • Provides customer courtesy patrol services, including jump starts, tire inflations, and assistance in locating vehicles parked within airport garages and lots.
  • Identifies and reports maintenance issues that are discovered in the terminal garages, surface lots, or roadways (i.e., signage, lighting, cleanliness etc.).
  • Maintains various operational reports (i.e., parking space capacity, courtesy patrol logs, and daily inventory counts).
  • Responds to and resolves customer service issues for all parking garages, surface lots, and facilities.
  • Monitors and reports malfunctioning parking equipment and system outages, including software systems, entry/exit gates, and payment devices.
  • Activates appropriate directional and informational signage during high occupancy or special events to guide parking traffic appropriately.
  • Observes and reports public safety or security concerns to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and/or the Integrated Operations Center (IOC).
  • Supports the Environmental Affairs Department by reporting any observed environmental concerns and assisting with field observations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
  • One (1) plus years of experience in a customer service working environment.
  • One (1) plus years of driving experience.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate clearly using a two-way radio and mobile telephone.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle for extended periods daily.
  • Ability to work flexible rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as assigned during shift bids.
  • Ability to report to work during inclement weather and emergency situations.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and mobile technology.
  • Ability to operate MLPI systems, vehicle-mounted software, and parking enforcement tools.
  • Ability to operate vehicle tire inflation and jumpstart equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations, including percentages.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate manual and electronic logs and reports.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and accurately report operational information.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing, with employees, contractors, leadership, and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment in problem solving and decision making with limited supervision.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Skill in basic typing skills (typing speed not required).
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and mobile devices such as tablets.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
  • Must have good private driving record, defined as; (a) no more than two (2) convictions of moving violations in the last 36 months; and (b) no DWI convictions in the last 60 months.

EFFORTS

  • Primarily works outdoors while driving a vehicle on roadways, parking garages, and surface lots.
  • Frequently in a seated position while driving.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching overhead and below waist-level.
  • Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, temperature fluctuations, noise, and traffic.
  • Work areas may be confined areas and around moving vehicles.
  • Work may be performed in various conditions, including exposure to changing temperatures, noise, or outdoor elements, depending on the required tasks.
