Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the engineering teams, driving a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
2. Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
3. Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics and insights to make informed decisions, continuously optimizing personalization strategies to drive user engagement and conversion rates.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, design, analytics, and other engineering teams to integrate machine learning solutions seamlessly into the PayPal Checkout product.
5. Technical Excellence: Ensure the team maintains high-quality coding standards, efficient development processes, and rigorous testing methodologies.
6. Scalability and Performance: Architect systems that can scale to handle millions of transactions daily while maintaining low latency and high availability.
7. Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in machine learning, and drive innovation within the organization.
8. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential technical and operational risks, ensuring the security and reliability of PayPal Checkout.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 14 years of engineering experience (which includes at least 6 leadership experience), with a track record of managing high-performing teams.
- Proven experience in delivering personalized user experiences and driving business impact by working with ML teams.
- Strong technical background with expertise in software development, system architecture, and cloud computing.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in the payments industry or a related field is a plus.
