What you will do

As Project Controls Manager, you will serve as a trusted resource for construction projects and the primary liaison between operations team and Senior Management. This highly visible and fast-paced position is charged with financial reporting, compliance, and processing responsibilities over projects ranging in size from $1 million to $1 billion in contract value.

 

How you will do it

This position will report directly to the Operations Manager. This individual will be in the middle of the action, working directly on our project sites and closely collaborating with our project team and trade partners.

 

  • Assist with project setup, closeout, and owner contract review and readiness

  • Prepare cost reports as needed

  • Key performance indicator monitoring 

  • Process innovation and improvement

  • Project cash-flow monitoring

  • Change Order Monitoring & Reconciliation

  • Support activities related to contract administration, change orders, procurement, schedule, and financial reporting

  • Have thorough knowledge of the company's contracts and understanding of all parties involved

  • Support, train, and develop project team members

  • Prepare and submit monthly job status reports that outline project priorities and issues

  • Support project close-out of project, including turnover of manuals and warranties and preparation of final payment documents for subcontractors

  • Establish a deadline and monitor the progress of the project

  • Drive a culture of safety on the project site 

  • Support the company’s acquisition of new work by participating in proposals and presentations

  • Provide leadership to foster an environment of inclusion and diversity

  • Understand and implement accepted Planning & Scheduling Best Practices 

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and statements of work in the preparation and acceptance of usable Baseline schedules for construction.

  • Monitor multiple project schedules being developed and updated by Operations staff and provide guidance as necessary.

  • Interact with the Operations team and represent Johnson Controls, Inc. and its partners in the best manner to owners, subcontractors, and their representatives.

  • Support the development of conceptual bid and proposal schedules with executive management and present to selection committees if required.

  • Utilize analytics to identify and report on project trends.

  • Evaluate the actual construction status relative to proposed plan.

  • Analyze and communicate the impact of changes to the schedule.

  • Prepare Time Impact Analyses per recommended practices by commonly accepted standards.

  • Travel to project sites up to 50%.

  • Develop and deliver specialized Planning, Scheduling and other Project Controls training for Johnson Controls, Inc.

  • Critique, create, and recommend improvements to departmental policies and procedures. 

 

What we look for

 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or other business-related fields or similar relevant work experience

  • Minium 3-5 years’ experience in MEP Construction

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Careful attention to detail and reliability of output

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS Project

  • Alignment to Johnson Controls, Inc. Standards of Excellence: self-motivated, results oriented, adaptable, team player, accountable, ethical, innovative, resilient, builds relationships, builds people/teams and followership, sets direction and executes 

 

Preferred

  • Highly motivated individual with strong organizational and time management skills

  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • PMP Certification preferred

  • Management experience with projects related to Mechanical Retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS management, Fire management, and Security management systems is desired. HVAC is highly preferred.

 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $79,400-128,800 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance.  This position includes a competitive benefits package.
