The Hartford’s Group Benefits IT Team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced IT professional who is responsible for leading engineering teams to successfully drive the transformation of our application landscape.  This Tech Lead will work on an agile team and partner with a vendor achieve business outcomes on a large transformational program.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent partnership, solid technical acumen, experience in delivering quality technical solutions as well as setting and executing on a strategic technical vision to ensure the systems are stable, performant, and secure. 

Responsibilities / Job Description:

  • Hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as, Java Web Services, JMS, JSP, XML, JSON, JDBC etc.

  • Experience with Web Services (SOAP and Rest).

  • Writing and using scalable and secure API's

  • Amazon Web Services usage includes but not limited to Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, AWSBatch, AWSDirectory.

  • Use DevOps and CI/CD tools. Develops Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation templates, YAML files, build specifications, and Lambda functions to have a completely automated build and release process for all AWS resource infrastructure and code artifacts.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Math, or any Engineering.

  • Awareness of full software development life cycle practices and the ability to follow source code management, code quality and testing practices.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in application software solution development and execution. Software development knowledge using AWS resources like Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, EventBridge is preferred.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as, Java Web Services, JMS, XML, JSON, JDBC etc. Along with experience in creating Web Service (SOAP and Rest) using Java Spring boot. Understanding of Batch and MQ.

  • 3+ years of systems design experience along with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies. Experience using GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, uDeploy , Rally, checkmarx etc or AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy and AWS CodeStar.

  • Infrastructure as Code experience, like CloudFormation or Terraform.

  • Experience with one or more relational database technologies such as Postgres or Oracle.

  • Familiar with Agile methodology. Experience working in an Agile or SAFe development environment.

  • Proven ability to work with cross functional teams.

  • Possess analytical, problem solving and communication skills. Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization and influence leadership.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$126,160 - $189,240
