Job Overview

At Accenture, we are building a world class Export Controls Centre of Excellence (COE) within the Global Trade Compliance Team. The Trade Compliance Officer (TCO) is a new position that will play a critical role in implementing trade operations and supporting compliance within India.  The TCO serves as a trade lead and is a primary point of contact and partner to Accenture’s Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team.  Their purpose is to ensure implementation of necessary trade operations controls to meet export (and import) requirements geographically, to provide related daily/on-going support, increase responsiveness to India trade controls related issues, and to enhance India trade compliance overall with a mindset of continuous improvement.  This role will report the Export Controls COE within the global Trade Compliance Team, joining a group of professionals who are passionate about trade controls and supporting India business growth.

The work:

  • Implementing Global Exports Policies & Procedures developed by the Exports COE
  • Act as POC for Local CM, Business & Regulators. Provide advice on Export Control Matters including delivery of training
  • Lead trade operations and provide compliance oversight for the assigned business to ensure compliance with trade control laws and regulations, this will include;
    • Facilitating classifications
    • Implementing compliance plans
    • Integrating trade controls and operations into business processes
    • Managing & submitting license applications
    • Obtaining necessary trade authorisations
    • Support contracts, providing regular guidance to client teams including advice on business expansion
    • Liaising with local Outside Counsel where local expertise of controlled items is required
  • Work with Legal, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality & Risk and other functions as needed within the business to identify, evaluate, and administer trade controls effectively
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal functions to encourage awareness of trade operations requirements and compliance issues
  • Monitor local trade compliance regulatory and legislative changes, assess the potential impact to the business and determine the necessary actions and communications to the appropriate stakeholders in coordination with GTC
  • Participate in trade compliance audits (internal and external), compliance monitoring and manage corrective action plans

Qualifications:

Successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required (international business, trade, supply chain, logistics, management, or related field)
  • 5+ years experience in export/import, trade control regulations
  • 3+ years experience in management in a multinational environment
  • Strong understanding of Indian dual use and military regulations and experience with governing agencies
  • Broad functional knowledge of trade regulations and familiarity with customs practices
  • Familiarity with shipping/logistics operations and processes
  • Travel may be necessary in fulfillment of responsibilities (domestic and international)
