The role


We are seeking an Occupational Health & Safety Manager, for our newest brand: Factor (factormeals.nl), a healthy, ready-to-heat meal delivery service.

As the Occupational Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety programs for our new Greenfield Food Processing Site - Factor Europe. You will ensure compliance with regulatory standards, conduct risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety across the site. This is a unique opportunity to shape the safety practices from the ground up and make a significant impact on our operations.

What you’ll do

  • Health and Safety Policy Development: Lead the creation and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures for the new greenfield food processing site, ensuring they meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with the Associate Director H&S DACH and other H&S team members for effective teamwork across the organization.
  • Risk Assessment and Auditing: Perform regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Training Programs: Organize and deliver health and safety training for all greenfield site employees, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance activities to maintain transparency and accountability.
  • Culture of Safety: Work with management and employees to foster a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement.
  • Safety Equipment Management: Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are well-maintained, used correctly, and easily accessible.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about the latest health and safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Emergency Response: Help develop emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness for potential emergencies.
  • Employee Support: Provide guidance and support to employees on health and safety issues, addressing concerns and promoting best practices.
  • Performance Reporting: Report on health and safety performance metrics to senior management, offering insights and recommending improvements for better safety outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of proven experience in a similar role within Food Manufacturing, Assembly, Chemical, or Consumer Products industries.
  • Occupational Health & Safety Qualification: Certified as an occupational health and safety officer (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit) under BGN (Berufsgenossenschaft Nahrungsmittel).
  • Fire Protection and Biological Agents: Experience in fire protection processes and handling biological agents is desirable.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated excellent leadership skills, with the ability to effectively motivate a team.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, capable of tailoring language and information to various audiences.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in business English and German is mandatory
  • Training Expertise: Proficient in designing and delivering effective health and safety training programs.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office and health and safety management software.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with a diverse team.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
