We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Service Engineer to be responsible for leading or contributing to detailed hardware and software design of process automation control systems projects. This includes defining architecture requirements, developing detailed software design specifications, programming PLC and SCADA applications, configuring thin client server applications, configuring process-based historian databases, tuning control loops, providing control system startup and commissioning services, troubleshooting existing control systems and providing control system qualifications. This a fantastic opportunity to lead/work on projects from concept through commissioning phases.

Must be local to the L.A. or the Bay area.

You Will:

  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of automation control systems and customer equipment
  • Install and integrate new components or parts
  • Identify, analyze, and repair equipment failures, order, and replace parts as needed
  • Troubleshoot PLC & HMI code
  • Understands and can follow NFP70e Safety Standards
  • Troubleshoot control systems networks and control panels
  • Participate with team of project engineers to start-up projects as needed
  • Communicate in person or via telephone to identify client’s needs
  • Coordinate service work for key accounts
  • Provide world class customer service
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships
  • Effectively communicate technical solutions for control system challenges
  • Able to understand and interpret P&ID drawings, electrical drawings, and network drawings
  • Research and answer difficult customer questions about product features, issues, and recommend appropriate upgrades
  • Develop creative solutions to more unique, chronic, or complex issues
  • Perform start-up testing and customer training on features and general maintenance of products
  • Maintain a minimum utilization of 90% for the service team
  • Mentors less experienced engineers and verify work
  • Assume a team lead role
  • Enjoy going to local sites; Appreciate the documentation and planning aspects of engineering in a regulated environment

You Have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 7+ years of experience in troubleshooting automated control systems, PLC, & HMI
  • Able to use hand tools and electrical testing equipment
  • Senior Service Engineer level training
  • Consulting experience
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting control systems and an understanding of process controls
  • Control system validation experience of pharmaceutical/biotech systems a plus
  • Rockwell experience with products such as: ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PlantPAx, Factory Talk Software Suite, Studio 5000, PLC5, SLC500, RSView, PanelView Plus, etc.
  • Other PLC platform experience (GE, Siemens, Modicon)
  • Other SCADA and HMI package experience (Proficy and Wonderware)
  • Experience implementing detailed control system electrical design packages
  • Working knowledge of control system networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.)
  • Instrumentation experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A DNA comprised of collaboration and teamwork

Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000
