About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:

Join us as a Machine Operator II, shaping the heart of Caterpillar Diesel Engines. Operating in a dynamic manufacturing space, you'll tackle challenges from temperature changes to electrical hazards with flexibility across shifts. Your role is pivotal in crafting engines, ensuring excellence in every detail.

What you will do:

  • Operate machining equipment to ensure defect-free part production.

  • Maintain records for inventory, quality, and equipment issues.

  • Keep a safe and clean workstation.

  • Meet or exceed company production standards.

  • Submit and assist in resolving Continuous Improvement cards.

  • Follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.

  • Provide information to supervisors about processes in the assigned area.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you will have:

  • Minimum 6-month experience with manufacturing, machining processes, and basic mechanical components

  • General experience with identifying quality defects

  • Attention to detail

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement initiatives

  • Intermediate experience with electronic standard operating procedures

  • Basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

  • Experience with Statistical Process Control data

  • Basic knowledge of technical requirements such as tolerance and fit

What would make you a top candidate:

  • 1 year experience reading engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, blueprints

  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience with 8.8-18 liter diesel engines

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive operations

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Additional Information:

  • $19/hour starting payrate

  • Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm

  • Overtime, as needed by business
