Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a OPFOR Support Division Deputy to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  The Senior Principal Military Trainer candidate will assist the Manager Team Leader 1 with functional management, assist the leadership to deliver products and execution to a customer-focused team and or group of teams committed to increase quality and productivity. The Senior Principal Military trainer will be a part of a team for Warfighter Exercise rotations to support the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). The trainer will assist the World Class Opposing Forces (WCOPFOR) and OPFOR Support Division (OSD) in preparation of Opposing Forces orders, Simulation Control Plans, and other contract deliverables in support of MCTP.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Manager in directing 16-person team of Opposing Force Work Area Commanders responsible for planning and executing up to five constructive command post Warfighter exercises each year
  • Prepares computer simulation with exercise scenario plan command and control graphics
  • Prepares simulation control plans to support the exercise
  • Assist in Synchronizing Corp and Division echelon critical events throughout the scenario to ensure the simulation executes within the exercise
  • Prepares computer simulation by placing assigned units into doctrinal formations, ensuring placement is situated to the terrain and is a tactically correct representation based on combat orders and the scenario
  • Ensures simulation fidelity is maintained throughout the exercise period
  • Understands and practices OPFOR hybrid threat models
  • May deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations.
  • Motivates team members and facilitates team meetings
  • Cultivates and reinforces appropriate group values, norms, and behaviors
  • Identifies and analyzes problems, plans, tasks, and solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:
    • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 20% of the time)
  • Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
  • Must be proficient with MS office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Experience with Constructive Simulation Models (WARSIM especially)
  • U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or Military Education Level 4 (MEL 4) equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE) graduate
  • Experience working with the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP)
  • Familiar with U.S. Army doctrine
  • Familiar with Opposing Force Doctrine (FM 7-100 Series)

Salary Range: $86,300.00 - $129,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
