As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for fabricating, inspecting, and testing avionics assemblies for various spaceflight systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with transition from development to production, including qualification schedules and first articles 

  • Responsible for the fabrication and repair activities of various cable harnesses, including but not limited to signal cables, RF cables, fiber optic cables, high data rate cables, power cables, potting processes, etc.  

  • Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections of engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures 

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance. 

  • Support vehicle/launch operations installation of open-ended harnesses by performing field installations 

  • Perform mate/de-mate, cleaning, inspection, length/breakout measuring, reassembly, and testing of harnesses and sub-systems 

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency 

  • Ability to work in a team environment with multiple and rapidly changing priorities. 

  • Adhere to ESD and safety standards. 

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED. 

  • Minimum of 2-5 years in a direct manufacturing position, working on aerospace programs or production lines heavily involving a range of manufacturing methods and techniques, in both leadership and hands-on roles; experience on aerospace production programs a plus. 

  • Experience with harsh environment cable harness assemblies including power, signal, fiber optic, and high data rate cables. 

  • Demonstrates understanding and can apply continuous improvement terminology/tools:  LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen.

  • Experience in aerospace avionics/harnessing or related fields. 

  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures. 

  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities.

  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc. 

  • Extremely customer-focused with strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.

  • Demonstrates understanding and can apply continuous improvement terminology/tools:  LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.  

Desired: 

  • Knowledge in avionics manufacturing 

  • Knowledge of operating test equipment (Hi-Pot tester, Kelvin setup tester, sweep generators, multi-meters, torque meters, etc.) 

  • Has worked with any of the following: IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739, J-STD-001, and/or ANSI/ESD S20.20 

  • Manual dexterity to handle all types of hand tools (wrenches, pliers, crimp, screwdriver, etc.) 

  • Ensure test systems are setup per Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) and Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs) 

  • Assist in resolving operational issues found during process testing including but not limited to Hi-Pot, Kelvin setup, bandwidth/throughput, RF/VSWR, tensile, and automated test equipment testing.

  • Basic math skills to read and use various dimensional measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.) 

  • Experienced in handling aerospace components. 

  • Experienced in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment. 

 

Must be physically able to: 

  • Climb ladders and stairs, and work in small restricted areas. 
  • Lift and carry 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to successfully pass a vision test (not color blind, 20/20 vision or corrected to 20/20)
  • Work a consistent schedule of Monday through Thursday, from 4:00pm to 2:00am.
