Job Description

This role has multiple levels, open to candidates with a minimum of 2 years of experience in commodity derivatives. The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.

The Commodities team is looking for a highly motivated professional with strong work ethic to join our rapidly growing team.  This position allows for a fast-track to client coverage

The Commodity Derivatives Analyst or Associate works closely with the commodities sales team to demonstrate and design derivative pricing, valuation and risk management solutions for clients. Serves as a back-up and support to assigned senior sales team. Makes sure that issues are resolved and takes initiative in all areas relating to credit lines, ISDA documentation and trades. Prepares marketing presentations, including current market commentary, discussion of hedging products and applications, and indicative pricing. Participates in and contributes to the RFP response process for customer opportunities. Assists in client execution and idea generation of new commodity products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive client coverage assistance to the team, including researching, transacting, prospecting and pitching, attending client meetings, and post execution data analytics

  • Support commodity sales as an Analyst/Associate by developing key corporate relationships and aiding senior salespeople

    • Research and generate pitch materials

    • Assist in the origination, structuring and execution of commodity transactions across North America

    • Trade execution, booking and post trade analytics

    • Coordinates with credit, legal and operations teams to ensure timely approval and execution of credit lines, ISDA documentation, and trade confirmations.

  • Partner with and work with various partners within banking, trading, risk and operations

  • Lead and mentor junior analysts/interns

  • As part of a growing team, direct client coverage potential based on performance

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Econometrics or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Two to five years of commodity derivatives or related experience with a strong desire to build an in-depth expertise in Commodities

  • Microsoft Suite of Products (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and Bloomberg

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Good understanding of complexities of the derivatives markets

  • Thorough knowledge of fixed income and commodities and pricing of derivative applications, including swaps and option structures

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work equally well in a team environment and independently, exhibiting initiative, ownership and flexibility

  • Ability to effectively build relationships with senior relationship managers and stakeholders

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial concepts into simple terms and actionable steps

  • Client-focused, strategic, and commercial attitude

    The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

    The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $78,965.00 - $92,900.00 - $102,190.00
