The Linen Service Aide, (Laundry Worker) is responsible for the operations of linen distribution and collections

Reports to: Supervisor, Environmental Services

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for planning, organizing, and scheduling the production of hospital linens, linen distribution, soiled linen collection, sort/separating, washing, and processing of all linens
• Perform inspections of linen prior to distribution to ensure cleanliness and high- quality service that supports the mission and values of UMC
• Provide superior customer service to patients and hospital staff

Skills and Abilities
• Maintain accurate linen count
• Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
Works primarily independent of other Aides

Physical Capabilities
Requires wear or personal protective equipment (PPE); Ability to lift/move various types of equipment, supplies/chemicals, and furniture of light/medium weight. Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and stretching.

Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes that may include varying temperatures. Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning supplies and blood/ blood borne pathogens is high risk.
