Within the Global Parts Supply (GPS) team, working with suppliers is key. As GPS, we are responsible for all supplier communications and hence the vital link between the supplier and the customer. Our mission is to ensure a healthy supply chain in the Caterpillar aftermarket and avoid shortages in the network leading into customer back orders. To be successful, we have challenging goals to measure our supplier's on time ship performance. On a daily base we liaise with suppliers and drive accountability for their results, the goals are challenging yet achievable and key to guarantee superior service levels.

As a Logistics Planning Analyst, you are responsible to establish solid business relationships with a set of defined suppliers.

  • Your main focus is ensuring timely and qualitative delivery into our distribution center, ensuring parts availability towards the end customer based on system generated requirements.

  • You will be educating and holding suppliers responsible as to reach challenging business results.

  • You understand the power of teamwork and will reach out to necessary process partners such as transportation, procurement, engineering, and join forces where needed. 

  • To be successful, you will need to develop and master a thorough understanding of our supply chain processes and systems.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor schedules and ensure their punctual and efficient shipment with suppliers

  • Monitor supplier results and drive corrective action as needed to maintain high supplier performance

  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with internal divisions and external suppliers

  • Evaluate and challenge supplier results in accordance to the supplier performance standard

  • Analyze and correct data irregularities

  • Provide thorough support on high priority back orders

    • Strong written and oral skills in English are a must, French, German, Dutch are an asset

Skill Descriptors
Data Analytics: Knowledge of techniques and processes for inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data; ability to discover useful information, draw logical conclusions, and support decision-making.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Collects required data through various data sources and documents them for evaluating trends and activities.
•    Assists in preparing charts, graphs, tables, and other tools to represent the results obtained from data analysis.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

•    Anticipates and adapts to plan changes.
•    Monitors progress of work against plan as required to meet objectives.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.
•    Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.
•    Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.
•    Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
•    Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP): Knowledge of the process, issues and considerations for systematically managing distribution of inventory for multiple plants or warehouses; ability to apply related knowledge and experience in real practice.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Works with real-time inventory software, moving supplies to where needed, when needed.
•    Interprets the impact of bottlenecks and delays on operating costs.
•    Follows processes and applies technologies for items and inventory management.
•    Assists in solving issues related to distribution to meet orders or inventory replenishment requirements.
•    Works with basic distribution requirements planning (DRP) processes and operations.

Inventory Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Follows processes to take stock, release inventory or return into processing; resolves discrepancies.
•    Tracks inventory information for a specific product group or location.
•    Works with basic tasks of inventory management for a specific location.
•    Produces basic inventory management reports for senior staff to reconcile the inventory balances.
•    Performs the receiving, ticketing, checking in and distributing of inventory items for a specific location.

Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability.
 Level Basic Understanding: 
•    Describes basic concepts of materials and capacity management processes and procedures.
•    Describes product life cycle and associated MRP cycle.
•    Identifies parameters and considerations used in making decisions about production runs.
•    Describes the use of bills of materials and other documentation needed to provide supplies.

Materials Handling and Management: Knowledge of material handling and management in plants; ability to perform, monitor and improve processes related to storage, transportation and handling of raw and hazardous materials.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Assists in the responding of and dealing with emergency issues related in materials handling.
•    Works with the packaging and storage of inbound or outbound materials.
•    Performs the packing, shipping, identifying and transporting of materials.
•    Explains key environmental issues for handling hazardous goods.
•    Follows procedures to handle hazardous materials, hazardous substances and pollutants.

Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers-
Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Maintains warehouse equipment and facilities.
•    Performs basic warehousing activities such as receiving, putting away, picking, packing and shipping merchandise.
•    Analyzes and documents key performance indicators of warehouse management in own area.
•    Assists in implementing mechanization approaches and techniques in a distribution center.
•    Collects and translates the business requirements for specifications of warehouse management systems.
