Job Summary

The position sits within the SMBF (Services Markets Banking and Functions) Infrastructure Services support team, which provides infrastructure functionality to all Services Markets and Banking businesses. The hardware platforms comprise a multitude of vendors including IBM, Dell and HP and operating systems including RedHat7/8. Seeking motivated technical professionals who specialize in providing services to clients on hardware and software components for Unix servers. Activities include operation and maintenance of Unix operating systems, clustering, High Availability, storage and backup solutions. These servers are installed with middleware applications, various database technologies and high availability solutions. The post holder will be primarily focused on performing analytical, investigative and operational functions on client systems for the Unix platform.

Responsibilities:

  • SME/Unix System administrators responsible for providing L3 Unix support for SMBF Unix infrastructure
  • Provide technical tier-3 Production Support Management for large complex infrastructure
  • Proactively monitor overall production support, resolving risks and issues and initiating corrective action plans as appropriate
  • Automate repetitive tasks by developing self-healing and self-service solutions.
  • Ensure processes are clearly documented
  • Provide regular communication to management and stakeholders of production support status for your infrastructure, including risks, issues and mitigations
  • Analyze complex problems/situations and to propose simple solutions
  • Communicate complex technical issues to business users in a language they understand
  • Manage a workload which is subject to changing priorities and demands
  • Create and maintain a knowledge base to ensure that knowledge transfer takes place within the team
  • Engineering solutions and participation in projects implementation
  • Implementation of Enterprise infrastructure tools
  • Reduction of faults, root cause analysis
  • External data center services vendor management

Qualifications:

  • 9+ years into IT infrastructure domain with At least 5 years of experience in Unix/Linux SME role
  • Highly technical and problem-solving skills in Linux environment
  • Knowledge of HP, Dell, IBM, VCS, GPFS, VMWare VMs, VXVM and VVR software and hardware up to enterprise level
  • Prior experience in large scale enterprise infrastructure support, re-engineering, performance fine tuning and automation.
  • Experience in Infrastructure Support Group in a high availability/mission critical environment
  • Experience in managing communications across business and technology stakeholders at varying levels across a medium to large scale enterprise
  • Analytic and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to remain calm and objective in a high-pressure environment
  • Must have strong self-management and be ready to use own initiative
  • Perfect communication, influencing and organizational skills are a must
  • Demonstrate accountability, leadership, independent initiatives and willingness to lead and work with teams across multiple locations and time zones
  • Strong team player skills
  • Flexible and being able to manage time effectively
  • Able to work with sense of urgency under multiple deadlines and successfully organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Understanding and hands on experience on Automation through CHEF and Ansible - desirable
  • Understanding/experience of SRE concepts - desirable
  • Understanding and use of Gen AI concepts - desirable
