As a Senior UI Designer in Business Banking, you’ll be working alongside one of the biggest digital design teams in the southern hemisphere. You’ll be collaborating daily with designers, product owners, stakeholders and technical teams to deliver an exciting transformation of our banking platform for Corporate and Institutional Banking clients CommBiz.

This strategic design role is based in the CommBiz team within Digital Business Banking, reporting to the CommBiz Experience Design Lead. As part of this team, you’ll be supported by experts in Service Design, UX Design, Research and Accessibility to deliver high quality, inclusive experiences across web and native platforms. You’ll also be closely connected to the Experience Design Chapter sitting in the Retail arm of CBA, comprising of User Experience (UX) Designers, User Interface (UI) Designers and specialists in Design Systems.  

 

What you will work on 

This role will see you designing and providing creative direction as we reimagine the CommBiz banking platform used by our complex business clients including ASX listed companies. This exciting transformation has high visibility and is still in early discovery, requiring establishment of a creative vision aligned to our existing digital design language and visualisation of our ambition through high fidelity concepts and prototypes. You will have the opportunity to design for a range of products, features and end to end experiences that have a high level of complexity, focused on meeting the needs of our clients now and into the future.  

 

On any given week you will 

  • Help redefine how our complex clients manage their finances by shaping the future visual design direction of our CommBiz banking experience. 

  • Offer strategic design direction and creative vision across all digital touchpoints (web and native) and features within the corporate and institutional banking ecosystem. 

  • Guide the team through discovery phases with future-state concepting and working prototypes, ensuring your creative direction translates into high-quality UI delivery. 

  • Work closely with Business Banking designers and the Design Systems team to identify, define, and contribute patterns that support the efficient delivery of the new CommBiz UI. 

  • Ensure designs meet client and business needs by collaborating across disciplines to incorporate client research and visualise experience strategy. 

  • Actively seek critique from your immediate team and the broader design community to continuously improve and deliver your best work. 

  • Use your storytelling skills to engage stakeholders with your design journey, delivering creative solutions based on a deep understanding of client needs. 

 

We are interested to hear from people who have 

  • The ability to think conceptually. Who can start with big ideas, identify product and design opportunities, explore them visually, and distil them into actionable direction 

  • Strong visual and interaction designs skills, along with the ability to help shape product vision, and design strategy 

  • Experience setting visual direction for a new digital platform experience, within the boundaries of an existing design language and aligned to brand  

  • Demonstration of experience creating compelling UI design, contribution to design systems, prototyping, motion design, style guides & specs 

  • The ability to articulate clear user interface critique based on experience heuristics, and encourage cohesive experiences and accessibility best practices. 

  • A track record of designing for complex, multi-platform, multi-channel ecosystems. An expert in the confluence of brand, product and interaction 

  • Strong UX sensibilities and a well-rounded product designer with an eye for detail 

  • Experience creating compelling videos from concepts to showcase future strategic direction to teams and stakeholders 

  • Experience leading other UI designers across a transformational programme of work 

  • A degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or similar field related to Human-Computer Interaction or equivalent experience
