GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Senior Actuary, Cash Flow Testing is responsible for leading cash flow testing and asset adequacy analysis to ensure long-term solvency of the company for our fixed indexed annuities and other small annuity blocks of business. As a manager of the cash flow testing team, the incumbent contributes to the design and execution of the reporting framework and associated analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads timely and accurate cash flow testing and asset adequacy analysis.
- Monitors developments in the actuarial industry and remains current on applicable regulatory and accounting matters and best practices.
- Collaborates with Corporate Actuarial Team (valuation, model, FP&A and assumptions) and other teams (e.g., Investment, ROA, Product and Pricing) to share results and influence/support optimized business strategy development.
- Leads a diverse team of employees with responsibility for managing the employee life cycle and experience, including but not limited to, selection and retention of talent, continuous feedback and performance management, reward and recognition, corrective action and employee development.
- Collaborates with Investments team to model and validate asset cash flows and market values from MG-ALFA.
- Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on cash flow testing framework.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Reports:
Two (2) to three (3) actuarial associates, analysts and interns.
General Description of Indirect Reports (2 and 3-downs): 0 to 1
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, or related field of study; and ten (10) years of progressively responsible related actuarial experience, or equivalent combination of education/and experience.
- Prior experience utilizing MG-ALFA actuarial software or alternative actuarial software.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:
- FSA, MAAA or ASA, MAAA required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ASOP’s is required
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting requirements and accustomed to modeling fixed indexed annuities under various jurisdictions (e.g., Bermuda).
- General knowledge of actuarial valuation laws, rules and regulations in the annuity industry.
- General knowledge of rating agency capital requirements and proficient in modeling fixed indexed annuities under each capital model (e.g., BCAR Model).
- Mastery of actuarial valuation best practices, procedures and processes.
- Experience with reinsurance transactions is essential
- Strong knowledge and systems aptitude with asset-liability models.
- General knowledge of assets and economic scenarios.
- Exceptional attention to numeric and other detail.
- Strong statistical and advanced math skills, including excellent Excel modeling skills.
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents from regulatory agencies, and other members of the business community.
- Strong project management skills, including planning and organization.
- Ability to effectively present technical information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, reinsurers, vendors and other outside third parties.
