Job Description Summary:

Responsible for assisting with basic accounting functions, compiling data for reports and assisting in the overall operation of the Treasury Department. Under the general direction of the Director of Treasury & Capital, responsible for an assigned shift, 40 hours per week. Employee is subject to call back as required by the hospital.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists in the month-end close process by preparing and posting of journal entries for general ledger accounts, compiling data, preparing spreadsheets, and scanning documents. 
  • Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts to supporting detail on a monthly and yearly basis, proposing adjustments as necessary to ensure proper accounting.
  • Reconciles assigned bank accounts
  • Assist with State Escheatment compliance and recovery
  • Assist with surprise cash counts as assigned
  • Assists with analysis of financial activity on a monthly basis for assigned accounts.
  • Compiles data for internal and external reports as requested.
  • Responsible for maintaining certain subsidiary records and databases as assigned.
  • Assists in preparation of the annual operating budget, as required.
  • Assists external and internal auditors in audit procedures.
  • Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts and techniques of the Accounting profession.  Completion of an associate’s degree in Accounting preferred

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

  • NA

EXPERIENCE:

  • Skill and proficiency in accounting systems and general ledger as normally acquired through one to three years of accounting experience. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and ability to demonstrate accounting skills according to current hospital policies and procedures as acquired through 3 months orientation. 
  • Possesses an understanding of current accounting practices and techniques.
  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and excel software.
