The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for a Senior Storage Engineer to design and engineer storage as a service (STaaS) for a USPTO program.

Primary Responsibilities.

  • Oversee infrastructure design and advanced tasks including SAN and storage design, analysis, evaluation, advanced troubleshooting, installation, testing and application
  • Discuss with leadership and customer the storage technological strategy
  • Assess technical project and IT service delivery risks and producing mitigation plans
  • Identify storage optimization and tuning techniques
  • Find and test new technologies and tools and opportunity for innovation and storage and service delivery improvements
  • Design and develop secure computer, storage, and systems administration practices that meet customer requirements
  • Provide expertise to ensure that correct technologies are selected, appropriate architectures are designed/selected and implemented, and that hardware and software solutions are correctly integrated and configured

Basic Qualifications.

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelors degree and 8 plus years of experience, or a High School diploma and 12 plus years’ experience (in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience and expertise in a range of storage devices including NetApp ONTAP NAS devices, Hitachi virtual storage platform, and Hitachi enterprise SAN solutions
  • Experience working with storage infrastructure programs up to 10 PB or more
  • Extensive experience and in-depth understanding of storage technologies and the latest trends and technology adoption in federal sector
  • Proven experience as a systems/storage engineer or similar role
  • Extensive experience with NetApp storage systems
  • Proficient in configuring and managing HP servers
  • Strong understanding of storage protocols and services (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, etc.)
  • Knowledge of system monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Ability to introduce and develop new and improved storage methods, products, procedures, or technologies
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience with the design, implement, and deployment of shared storage system resources
  • Experience working on storage performance analysis and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Data recovery strategies and backup measures
  • Knowledge and experience of storage hardware architectures
  • Familiarity with high-level programming languages
  • Experience working in a distributed file systems environment
  • Scripting experience with Python or Bash
  • Experience knowledge with VMware vSphere and storage area networks (SANs)
  • Experience with Linux system administration experience
  • Experience with Hitachi Virtualization Storage Platform (VSP)
  • Experience wit On-Prem Storage Arrays, hyper-converged, VSAN, IP storage or similar product offerings, and cloud storage solutions to offload on-prem storage footprint

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
