Responsible for leading strategic efforts to align infrastructure solutions that provide a competitive advantage to our business units. The VP of IT Infrastructure and Architecture is essential for monitoring industry trends and new technologies for system architecture as well as working hand-in-hand with Operations and Security teams on the implementation of these complex technical projects. The VP of IT Infrastructure and Architecture is responsible for providing leadership and management oversight of senior IT professionals who document, define and guide technology solutions to optimize time to market and meet our business and regulatory needs.
Essential Job Duties
- Own the strategic architecture of LKQ Corporation and its subsidiaries' infrastructure solutions.
- Stay abreast of innovations in the infrastructure technology market to ensure we are ahead of business and regulatory needs.
- Accountable for providing roadmaps for the LKQ Corporation's adoption of new technologies that ensure a market-leading position.
- Engage with 3rd party vendors in order to assess and validate market offerings and opportunities to enhance the LKQ Corporation value proposition.
- Own and prioritize the development of the enterprise service catalog in line with Agile practices.
- Offer deep technical insights to recommend and support strategic investments in technologies.
- Leverage common designs and standard infrastructure builds throughout LKQ Corporation to optimize companywide.
- Deep understanding of the requirements of operational support to ensure that all designs meet the requirements of our business units and operational teams.
- Maintain strong feedback loops with development and operations teams to ensure the continuous improvement of our catalog of offerings.
- Develop goals, initiatives, and strategies and drive actions in all functional areas under Technical Operations and Solutions including, Network Support, System Administrators, Systems and Network Engineering teams.
- Lead and develop operational excellence with a focus on the service management and Service Center approach to achieve agility, speed, scale and efficiency.
- Automate infrastructure services and system administration tasks wherever possible.
- Lead annual strategic planning, tactical operation planning, the development of service improvement, and contingency operation plans.
- Lead annual budget planning for infrastructure assets and services.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and coaching for all staff and foster a culture of accountability, innovation and team building.
- Create and effectively use performance measurements to quantify and benchmark personal performance, technology productivity, effectiveness, and service tools.
- Manage, maintain, and grow a high-performing geographically diverse operations team.
- Maintain an engineering atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork, organization and professional development.
- Responsible for ensuring the enterprise is protected from cybersecurity threats by enforcing safe coding and configuration standards, hardware patching, software updates, and technical debt management, at a minimum.
- Ensure that IT policies and procedures are published, kept updated, and adhered to by the enterprise while ensuring that all IT controls are effectively managed and performed.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years working with infrastructure and programming experience.
- 5+ years of related experience as an IT Architect.
- Demonstrable cross-functional experience with Systems, Storage and Networking.
- Experience working within an agile framework.
- Experience working in high-density, high-throughput computing environments.
- Experience designing and operating multi-site replication technologies in support of business continuity and disaster recovery.
