What you will be doing:
The Contracting Specialist assists the Service Line in developing a project plan for assigned product categories, from member need identification to contract execution and management, which includes spend analysis, financial modeling, direct negotiations, internal and external terms and conditions collaboration, presentation creation for Sourcing Committees, and contract management within Premier’s sourcing technology platform. Financial modeling includes supplier spend analyses, tier impact analyses and financial analyses for assigned product categories. The Contracting Specialist provides inputs into the sourcing process and strategy and executes the process on multiple medium to high complexity categories. The Contracting Specialist is mid-tier position in the Contracting organization of Premier, where the individual is provided a support system to grow in the role on an individual and team basis. This position participates and contributes to performance improvement initiatives and special projects, is focused on leadership and development, and is exposed to various experiential activities that will broaden the individual’s experience and perspective.
Responsibility #1– 60%
Contracting Core
Sources medium to high complexity product categories
Masters full sourcing process
Masters contract analytics
Ability to negotiate simple Terms and Conditions as directed
Develops and recommends strategies for negotiations
Develops supplier spend analysis, price tier analysis, and recommends tiers for assigned product categories
Support analysis and process to maintain cross reference, product codes, spend intelligence, RFI
Assists or leads the creation of RFPs
Communicates with suppliers
Completes pricing / savings negotiations
Creates PowerPoint presentations that provide succinct and informational messages
Validates the completeness of suppliers product and pricing files
Assists in the development of award recommendations
Assists in the creation of the final contract
Input and manage contract attributes in Passport
Completes ad hoc reports related to contracting
Execute contract amendments and change notices for term changes, tier changes, product additions, price changes
Project Management
Adheres to the milestones and cycle times outlined in product category workplan
Monitors progress of assigned tasks in product category workplan
Identifies and informs management of deviations from product category workplan and timeline and updates systems to reflect status accordingly
Identifies and communicates resource needs on a timely basis to the appropriate level
Ensures accuracy and completeness of own work
Identifies critical issues for risk management with clients and informs management of these critical issues
Participates in sourcing meetings to ensure a seamless integration throughout the sourcing process

Learning and Development
Mentee to Senior Specialist
Ownership of a project or program within team
Actively seeks opportunities to become familiar with the sourcing strategy, to increase knowledge of sourcing terminology and depth of product knowledge
Completes required curriculum work

Special Projects
Successful completion of assigned medium to high complexity projects that broaden knowledge and skillsets
Evaluates special project assignments for efficiency opportunities and escalates findings
Creates and publishes standard work
Completes and maintains special project guides as needed and reviews guides completed by Associate Specialist
Responsibility #4 – 10%
Experiential Activities
Exposed to multiple Service Lines and gains experience in sourcing multiple product categories
Enhances strategic supplier relationships
Experience and exposure to various peripheral sourcing teams
Required Qualifications
Work Experience:
Years of Applicable Experience - 2 or more yearsEducation:
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Preferred Qualifications
Skills:
Analytics, familiar with MS Excel
Contract Terms and Conditions
Project Management, organized, detail oriented, able to juggle multiple tasks and contracts
Experience:
Coursework in purchasing or supply chain, healthcare, logistics, materials management, finance, operations, project management, technology, business intelligence tools, leadership training
Active participation in professional memberships such as AHRMM, ACHE, ISM
Volunteer work in activities that advance the supply chain profession
Education:
Bachelor’s degree
CMRP, CPSM, LPN, RN, CNA, SSGB
