  • We are a team of big thinkers who are engineering the future of banking

  • Together we will build tomorrow’s bank today, using world-leading technology and innovation

Do work that matters

We're building tomorrow’s bank today, which means we need creative and diverse engineers to help us redefine what customers expect from a bank. Envisioning new technologies that are still waiting to be invented and reimagining products that support our customers and help build Australia’s future economy.

See yourself in our team

We are a group of specialist engineers in the eFIR (Electronic Fixed Income and Rates) team, working on the bank’s ION electronic trading platform. Here, we are supporting and extending this system and directly interacting with the bond, IRS, and repo trading desks. We have regular engineering guilds, both local and global, to guide and shape knowledge sharing and learning and contributing to world-class skills, techniques, and processes.

As a business-facing team our value is our in-depth knowledge of the trading business and in particular, fixed income and secured lending trading.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • Have solid hands-on experience front-office trading systems – ION MarketView or Anvil

  • Confidently conceiving and driving process improvements that add significant business value

  • Pride themselves on leading and mentoring more junior staff ensuring the success of those around them, and in doing so, their own success.

  • Confidently drive larger pieces of work independently, seeking advice and help when required, setting up effective engagements with various stakeholders

  • Are constantly working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business requirements and collaboratively ideate solutions whilst minimising risk

  • Are knowledgeable of various D2C and D2D bond, IRS, and repo markets and their operation

  • Are constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems

Tech Skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

  • ION MarketView or Anvil

  • ION/Anvil components such as MMI, System Administrator, PXE, RefData, TRPM solution, VMO, D2C market gateways, D2D market gateways.

  • Bloomberg FIT, TOMS, and other adjunct fixed income trading systems.

  • Linux command-line environment

  • Windows desktop environment including tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, JIRA, and Confluence.

  • Scripting and automation, with Python, shell, Perl, PowerShell
