Job Description Summary

We are currently looking for a PAC R&D PMO & Operations Leader, a pivotal role within our global Grid Automation organization. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of our product development strategy, lead cross-functional collaboration, and drive operational excellence across our R&D portfolio.

The PAC R&D PMO & Operations Leader drives the successful planning, execution and reporting of NPI and LCS projects within the PAC R&D portfolio. She or he will be responsible for three main areas:

•Strategic Planning: Align R&D capacity and budget plan with product roadmaps and long-term strategy
•Operations: Report on the execution of R&D projects, managing global R&D budget, headcount, outsourcing, competencies and skills, dashboarding the relevant KPIs (performance & quality)
•Project Management Excellence: Drive continuous improvement on project management tools and processes, coach R&D program/project managers on project execution

In this role, the PAC R&D PMO & Operations Leader will interact continuously with the global Grid Automation organization, in particular with Product Line / Sub Product Line Leaders, PAC Product Managers and R&D Leaders, global Operations, Finance, …

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, cross-silo operational leader with a proven track record of project and program management. She or he will be an excellent communicator, a true change agent, and capable of addressing technical issues with the R&D teams while keeping the overall program view and customer commitments.

Job Description

Significant activities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement PMO strategies that align with the organization's objectives.
  • Project Governance: Establish and maintain project management standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Resource Management: Work with PAC R&D leaders to allocate resources effectively to ensure project success and optimize utilization in consistency with the Budget planning.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track project performance, providing regular updates to stakeholders and ensuring projects meet their objectives (bi-weekly PAC R&D Operations Review).
  • Risk Management: Work with Program Managers, Release Train Engineers to identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring proactive problem-solving.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met and expectations managed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and coach the Program managers/Release Train Engineers, promoting a culture of excellence (tools, processes, mindset) and collaboration.
  • Budget Management: Oversee project budgets, ensuring financial accountability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Reporting: Provide comprehensive reports on project status, performance metrics, and strategic insights to senior leadership.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to convince.
  • Good people soft skills, especially on listening, coaching, and challenging.
  • Extensive background and experience navigating complex project lifecycles from planning to execution within global or matrixed organizations.
  • Experience with managing Quality & Performance processes and indicators
  • Experience with Agile software development practices and tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Good understanding of the Energy Transition and its impact on Grid Automation.
