Director, Global Pricing & Market Access, Vaccines Team, Pneumococcal MAPS lead.

Location: GSK HQ London UK, Wavre Belgium or Philadelphia USA but may also be based at other strategic locations on a case-by- case basis.

Pricing and Market Access (P&MA) are key to maximizing the value of our medicines and vaccines for consumers, patients, healthcare systems and for the company. This is a truly exciting opportunity for the role of Director, Global Pricing & Market Access, Vaccines Team, Pneumococcal MAPS lead. (MAPS = Multiple Antigen Presenting System).

The vision of the Global Pricing and Market Access team is to be the industry leader in our ability to maximise patient access to life changing vaccines and medicines.  To do this we externally engage payers to fully recognise the value of our assets and internally act as a strategic leader to increase portfolio lifecycle value by delivering innovative solutions.  In the Global Market Access Director role, you will leverage your clinical understanding, expertise of Evidence Based Medicine, alongside deep global payer knowledge and competitive insights, to shape the Pricing & Access strategy, evidence generation, and value communication tools & materials.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead on delivery the Global Pricing and Market Access Strategy and develop the Payer Value Proposition for GSK’s proprietary Multiple Antigen Presenting System (MAPS) platform and/or other assets from our pipeline.
  • Map key funding opportunities including reimbursement and pricing potential for key markets including the U.S, Japan, China, and Germany, plus other strategically significant markets in collaboration with our Regional Pricing, Access, and Value & Evidence colleagues.
  • Develop and roll-out Value Maximization tools, materials, and training to support LOCs (Local Operating Countries) in their market access planning, activities, and engagements, to ensure patient access.
  • Identify key payer needs, potential access barriers and communicate global market access considerations (e.g. from payer research) contributing to value evidence generation planning.
  • Ensure payer insights and market access requirements are incorporated into core global commercial forecasting exercises, in collaboration with regional counterparts.
  • Lead Global Access related elements into the Integrated Asset Planning process and deliver the Value & Access Plan allowing for key evidence requirements, data availability, regulatory timing as well as having clear understanding of competitive set and payer environment.
  • Partner with other functions such as Value Evidence & Outcomes, Strategic Insights, Government Affairs, Commercial, Medical and Region & Country LOC functions, to ensure a solid understanding of current markets and emerging stakeholders in the pneumococcal landscape.
  • Represent the voice of Payers and ensure Market Access & Value Evidence requirements are considered within the Vaccines Commercial Team (VCT) and the Global Medical Team (GMT) key deliverables.  
  • Execute & Drive Annual Operating plan for GPMA vaccines for Pneumo MAPS to deliver workplan to time and within budget.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • A depth of experience in Access Strategy, Value Evidence & Pricing, ideally in Vaccines Landscape, at either Local, Regional or Global Level.
  • Leadership experience in developing and managing pricing & market access strategies globally, regionally or in key markets.
  • Degree qualified in Science/Medicine/Business/Health Policy/Health Economics discipline.
  • Ability to influence and clearly communicate across a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable leadership, interpersonal, critical thinking, and analytical skills to work with a variety of groups in ensuring that the strategic direction for market access and pricing is in balance with the market as well as corporate goals.
  • Strong presentation and written skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA/Masters in scientific or economic area, e.g. Health Economics.
  • Robust understanding of pricing policy & regulations and healthcare in key markets from either developed and/or emerging markets.
  • Strong Knowledge of Vaccines Access Pathways including understanding of regulatory reviews and recommending bodies and key decision makers 
  • Successful in-country payer engagement and negotiation experience in priority markets
  • Solution-oriented mindset, Demonstrable skills to lead and develop teams.
