The Director, Corporate Accounting is a key member of the corporate accounting team. This position serves as the project leader for various accounting department initiatives, including M&A and related integration activities; process improvement efforts; and the enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, systems and internal accounting controls.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for leading the Accounting Integration of Akumin/the company’s and all follow-on acquisitions.

  • Responsible for providing support for the Annual Audit and Quarterly reviews. 

  • Partner with the accounting team to ensure all audit requests are provided timely and accurately. 

  • Partner with internal teams and external advisors to ensure that significant transactions and issues are properly accounted for.

  • Ensure that the audit and quarterly reviews are completed timely. 

Serve as the project leader for various accounting department initiatives and provide the necessary leadership and support for other activities, including:

  • Identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen and automate the accounting processes, including reconciliation of data, reporting and analysis.
  • Drive the ongoing design and implementation of internal controls associated with accounting processes, including all documentation (process flows, control matrices, etc.) associated with the internal control environment.
  • Align internal controls to developments in the business for changes in operations, as needed (new revenue streams, organizational alignment, changes in processes and systems, etc.).
  • Monitor control adherence by key control performers throughout the year.

Position Requirements:

  • 10+ years of related accounting experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Strong business and team leadership skills
  • Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, procedures, systems, and internal controls
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced, complex environment with competing priorities and demands
  • Comfortable operating in a very hands on environment

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledge of healthcare and healthcare services revenue cycle functions, including billing and collection processes, as well as government and payer regulations.
