My name is Vishakh Basidoni, Head of Finance & Administration for Svitzer AMEA Region and I am looking for a new Regional Controller and Accountant for the Svitzer office based in Mumbai, India.

You will report directly to me and become part of the Svitzer Regional Accounting & Reporting Team, and your peers and close co-workers are Finance colleagues in our operations covering the AMEA Region.

This role is located in Mumbai, India. We work flexibly, not because there is a policy telling us to, but because it just makes good business and work/life sense and creates an engaging work environment.

General Area of Responsibility

AMEA Region

  • AMEA Consolidation & Reporting -AMEA Line-item explanations /Analysis which includes cash flow analysis, deviation analysis.

  • AMEA Consolidation & Reporting -Coordinate with the Reporting & Control team in the head-office in Copenhagen with respect to fulfilling period-end control activities addressing deviations, passing elimination journals and reporting operational metrics as per standard procedures.

  • AMEA Consolidation & Reporting -Ensure timely completion of reporting of AMEA consolidated financials, monthly, quarterly and year-end closing procedures and rolling forecasts. Coordinate with the regional team and country finance managers to ensure completeness, timeliness and accuracy of reporting with solid underlying business story.

  • AMEA Consolidation & Reporting – Various Regional Controlling Checks for one stream reporting every month and timely correcting the errors if any by connecting with Finance Managers.

  • GRC Controls Coordination -Following up with Finance Managers for ineffective controls as per GRC. Co-ordinating between FM and GRC team for providing Archer access/ delay in control performance/ To add delegates / new entity archer etc.

  • GRC Controls Coordination - Monitor status of effectiveness of Svitzer Key Internal Controls by checking control evidence as per minimum control requirements and frequency. Provide support to the Country Finance Managers with sharing standard control templates and best practices.

  • GRC Controls Coordination - Owner of the AMEA Control Dashboard. Drive the control framework agenda and address control gaps in countries and region to bring AMEA to effective state on all measurements.

  • Svitzer India & Hazira Accounts – Prepare Balance sheet recon Svitzer India and Svitzer Hazira each month, to identify the exposures to nullify them.

  • Svitzer India & Hazira Accounts – Prepare rolling forecast and budget process as per communicated guidelines supported with detailed underlying calculations for the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.

  • Svitzer India & Hazira Accounts – Perform Svitzer Key Internal Controls and file control evidence as per minimum control requirements and frequency, making sure that all controls are always in effective state.

  • Undertake ad-hoc reporting and analysis requested by management.

Expected Education / Competencies

  • University degree in Finance & Accounting preferably Chartered Accountant, with minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in Financial Reporting & Control.

  • Expert MS Excel user for developing reconciliations and review / analysis of financial information.

  • Strong financial acumen with knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Governance, Risk & Control frameworks.

  • Prior experience in internal or external audit.

  • Attention to details. High sense of urgency.

  • Preferred to have hands-on prior experience in accounting using Navision or MS Dynamics and reporting of financials into OneStream.

  • Prior industry experience in towage and transportation is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Prior experience in crewing is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Articulate in written and spoken English. Excellent communicator who can structure information and communicate a clear message to all relevant stakeholders.
