What You Will Do:

As a Managing Consultant, you will support Guidehouse Clients with complying to North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Operations and Planning (O&P) Reliability Standards. NERC O&P Reliability Standards define the reliability requirements for planning and operating the North American bulk power system which protect the reliability and security of the North American power grid.

You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert for NERC O&P Reliability Standards and assist Clients with the following:

  • Performing compliance assessments, development, and enhancement of Compliance Programs, compliance evidence such as operating plans, business processes, organizational structures, and supporting infrastructure for clients.

  • Applying O&P, process improvement, & risk management framework knowledge to support client compliance programs.

  • Developing and communicating solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations.

  • Performing data collection, analysis, statistical & risk analyses.

  • Support Clients with the development and management of NERC Compliance programs.

  • Perform analyses to evaluate the client’s evidence to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with the NERC O&P Standards.

  • Support Clients with audit preparation, by helping them prepare or update NERC Reliability Standards Audit Worksheets, prepare evidence, support submittal of evidence to the appropriate regulatory body.  

  • Participate in and lead mock audits to familiarize clients with the audit process.

  • Stay up to date with new and updated NERC Standards and help clients interpret the standards for their environment.

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with Guidehouse Clients.

  • Participate in industry conferences, workshops and forums.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, policy, engineering (esp. mechanical, electrical/power systems), economics, finance, science or related discipline

  • a minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience, or equivalent experience.

  • Electric utility generation and/or transmission operations or planning experience. ·

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience with NERC Standards and NERC compliance programs.

  • Ability to cultivate and foster client relations to support growth Guidehouse cybersecurity Team.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other business units with the goal making our clients successful.

  • Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent business and technical writing.

  • Strong project management skills to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness.

  • Job may require occasional travel to meet with clients and stakeholders or attend NERC related conferences and may include overnight stays.

  • Ability to travel as required.

  • The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.

  • Currently reside in the contiguous United States.

  • This role is a Hybrid role which will require you to go into the closest GH Office as needed or on occasion. 

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • MBA or Master’s degree in cybersecurity, risk management, or related discipline

  • Demonstrated abilities and success with managing the identification and addressing of client needs in the following areas: blend of technology solution development, functional architecture, and program management

  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success in key facets of state and local government, including Education, Housing, Transportation, Criminal Justice, and/or Administration and functional areas. Knowledge and/or success should also include strategic sourcing, shared services, economic development, sustainability, performance management, disaster recovery and/or customer contact centers

  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success in core management consulting skills and the ability to lead clients through solution development including experience in areas such as Application Development, System Implementation, Quality Assurance/Quality Control and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V)

  • Experience conducting baseline assessments, building a future state vision, and developing actionable implementation plans

  • Ability to keep leadership informed of progress and issues, and answering questions and offer direction to staff

  • IT implementation skills, specifically with large-scale technology transformation programs (i.e., strategy through execution)

  • Demonstrating IT strategy skills by being able to develop and document business visions, technology strategies, and project roadmaps

  • Demonstrating IT documentation skills in producing technical deliverables through all phases of the SDLC (requirements, business analyses, data-flow diagrams, data models, design)

  • Ability to communicate knowledge of the SDLC and product and project life cycles by using business analysis and data architecture

  • Extensive program management, communication and presentation skills including the ability to liaise with technical and business teams and clearly articulate technology concepts to business audiences, in order to drive projects to completion

  • Additional certifications or credentials in related technologies, standards, methodologies, or frameworks (where applicable or available)

  • Preference will be given to candidates who reside within a reasonable number of miles of a Guidehouse Office.
