Job Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Sr Business Unit Director GSA Instruments, the Business Unit Manager will be a member of the GSA Instruments Leadership Team, and responsible for the assigned business units. The post holder will co-ordinate an organization comprised of Sales Representatives and Regional Sales Managers, aimed at growing the business by making healthcare better with ST and OI's unique solutions. The role has full P&L responsibility and is responsible for executing the strategic goals of the ST and OI businesses in the region.   

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the commercial strategy for the BUs, by incorporating Marketing, Key Accounts, Flex Finance, ProCare, and X-Div Collaboration into the plan, which ultimately delivers the financial targets.

  • Manage and own the P&L for the BUs, including achieving sales revenue, margin and operating income annual targets.

  • Provide accurate sales forecasts each month to the European ST/OI finance team.

  • Contribute to the creation of, and responsible for the execution of the annual marketing plans of the BUs.

  • Proactively lead the teams delivering high levels of engagement which translates into financial results. Being a strong developer of people, create a future pipeline of talent for Stryker.

  • Manage key customer relationships (existing and new), aimed at retaining and growing the business and reputation of Stryker in the market

  • Collaborate with the other Business Unit Manager’s within the European Instruments Leadership Team. Collaborate with BUM’s and RSM’s in other local franchises, representing the business unit in providing innovative customer offerings. The role will also work with all the country enabling functions to ensure all internal policies / procedures are adhered to.

  • As part of the GSA Instruments Leadership Team, contribute to the development of the 5 year strategy. This includes input into marketing strategies, acquisition target identification, organization development and X-Div/BU Collaboration initiatives.
     

Essential Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level and or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 10+ years overall Commercial experience

  • Solid experience as Commercial or Division Business Unit Leader or Regional Sales Manager for a medical device business with proven career progression.

  • Direct selling experience preferred, ideally in the medical device industry; with a good knowledge of opinion leaders and of the main products and competitors.

  • Proven experience in delivering market share growth and financial commitments. 

  • Experience in contributing and executing on a marketing budget and plan

  • Demonstrated success in building, managing, motivating and developing strong sales teams with direct and/or indirect channels. This includes acumen in setting sales coverage and leveraging territory coverage and customer focus. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build engagement and leverage performance management systems to reach business objectives; includes goal setting, performance planning and monitoring, coaching, feedback and performance review.

  • Strong commercial/financial acumen and understanding of a P&L; including demonstrated record of overachieving organizational goals (e.g., sales quota, growth quota, sales, P&L, engagement)
