Our Opportunity:

Chewy is hiring an AD, Category Management in our Boston, MA | Bellevue, WA or Plantation, FL office locations. In this role, you will lead a team of category managers to support the Exotics business at Chewy. Your responsibilities will include developing new and existing business relationships, expanding product selection, and managing multiple new product launches on Chewy.

You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong negotiation and vendor management experience, and the ability to analyze and communicate complex terms and margin structures. You should work well with other teams, including finance, inventory management, and site experience. Additionally, you must demonstrate the ability to dive deep into root cause problems, develop solutions, implement actions, and report on results. Keys to success in this role include strong ownership values, a passion for innovation, and the ability to accelerate time to market.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the exotics (small pet, pet bird, reptile, fish, wild bird) categories, 4-5 direct reports.
  • Oversee a team responsible for assortment, pricing, promotions, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Establish, build, and manage strong vendor partner relationships
  • Identify opportunities within your category to optimize and maximize product performance, including analyzing sales data, assortment gaps, and market trends to make quick, effective decisions for your business.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, marketing, supply chain, pricing, and customer service to ensure collaboration as well as holistic planning and execution
  • Build and implement, based on research and data insights, strategies and plans to both recruit new customers to Chewy and to develop existing customers via lifecycle management concepts.
  • Develop and execute data-driven strategies to recruit new customers and nurture existing ones through lifecycle management concepts.

What You’ll Need:

  • 8-10+ years of comprehensive business experience in leading e-commerce, retail, CPG, or similar organizations.
  • Exceptional skills in vendor management, merchandising, sales, marketing, and general management.
  • Strong understanding of finance, pricing, supply chain management, and operations.
  • Extensive experience in product and project management.
  • Proven track record of owning and growing large, complex businesses at high growth rates.
  • Demonstrated ability to launch and rapidly scale new business ventures.
  • Strong business acumen and willingness to move quickly.
  • Excellent strategic and analytical skills.
  • Proven expertise in go-to-market strategies and execution excellence.
  • High sense of ownership, quality standards, and a growth mindset.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in developing and managing high-performance teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Bonus (if applicable):

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or MBA preferred.
  • Proven business and leadership experience in market-leading organizations, including both large enterprises and startups.
  • Personal experience with exotic animals (pet birds, reptile & amphibians, fish, small animals)

Hub Locations & Work Arrangement:

  • Hub Locations: Bellevue, WA | Boston, MA | or Plantation, FL
  • Hybrid Model: 2+ days in hub location per week
  • Remote: This role is NOT a remote role.

Compensation & Benefits:

Our salary range for an AD, Category Management position is $149,000.00 - $245,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k, and a new hire and annual equity grant.
