Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Junior Integration Engineer to support the assembly and integration of Coherent Optical Channel Monitor (OCM) modules. This role is centered around Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) optical blocks and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), requiring skills in precision assembly, visual inspection, and data-driven process improvement. The ideal candidate will contribute to yield enhancement, failure analysis, and adherence to IPC standards in a collaborative engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and integrate WSS optical blocks and PCBA subassemblies within coherent OCM modules.
  • Perform high-precision work with optical components, fiber optics, and electronic assemblies.
  • Conduct rigorous microscope-based visual inspection to identify issues such as solder defects, contamination, optical misalignment, and cosmetic non-conformance.
  • Apply inspection criteria based on IPC-A-610 or similar industry standards.
  • Execute data analysis of assembly and test results to identify trends, improve yields, and drive defect reduction.
  • Support root cause and failure analysis (RCCA) for process and product issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Document inspection results, defect classifications, and assembly deviations with clarity and completeness.
  • Collaborate with engineering, test, and quality teams to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and volume production readiness.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of assembly and inspection processes, including procedure updates and training material.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in electronics or optoelectronic module assembly and inspection.
  • Experience with microscopic inspection and handling of fine-pitch electronic components and optical parts.
  • Exposure to yield improvement and failure analysis in a manufacturing or integration environment.
  • Proficiency with visual inspection techniques; ability to recognize cosmetic and functional defects.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 or other applicable IPC standards is highly preferred.
  • Strong manual dexterity for precision assembly, bonding, and alignment.
  • Competence in data analysis (Excel, JMP, Minitab, or Python) for yield tracking and problem solving.
  • Familiarity with structured root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Ishikawa/Fishbone, Pareto).
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with an emphasis on consistency and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Use of AOI systems, fiber splicing tools, optical alignment equipment, and ESD-safe tools.
  • Basic understanding of SPC, DOE, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Comfort working in cleanroom environments and with precision metrology tools.
