Job Description:

Summary: 

Barr is seeking an Information Systems (IS) Support Intern to join our Minneapolis office for the summer of 2025. This role will get the chance to work alongside our helpdesk and infrastructure team to help provide technological solutions to our internal staff. The individual in this role will gain exposure to all areas of Barr’s IS team, providing the opportunity to explore their interests and get hands-on experience. Ideal candidates will be passionate about learning IS in an environment that values collaboration, client experience, and taking ownership of solutions to complex problems. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Providing support for internal computer users company-wide by responding to helpdesk requests 

  • Aiding in the testing, repairing, and installation of software and hardware setup

  • Performing troubleshooting of hardware and software issues for individuals and installing and upgrading user workstations

  • Supporting end-user computing, including virtual environments

  • Participating in projects involving server, network, and cloud infrastructure environments

  • Assisting with various document and data management efforts

  • Participating in process improvements and special projects as assigned

  • Shadowing various aspects of IS and technology operations  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Ongoing enrollment in a management information systems, network administration, computer science, or related four-year technology-focused program

  • Third or fourth-year student with a minimum of one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate coursework remaining after the internship

  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and computer hardware

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively provide technological solutions to internal computer-users

  • Proven problem-solving skills and a strong desire to learn different functional areas of IS

  • Collaboration-focused mentality with a willingness to assist wherever needed and contribute to the IS team’s success

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and follow-through

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future 

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Server operating systems, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office 365 administration

  • Understanding of common network layout, protocols, and administration

  • Experience with administering Office 365

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting

  • Helpdesk, ticketing systems, technical support troubleshooting experience  

This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. A hybrid work arrangement may be considered throughout the duration of the internship.
