About the Role

Partnering with Compliance functional leads for regulatory, market and sales conduct, and anti-money laundering, lead and design an assurance program to enhance second line of defense’s independent oversight of business activities in AIA HK and Macau.

Develop and implement activities, supported by other Compliance teams as necessary, assure the effectiveness of compliance controls and recommend necessary control improvements. Through engagements with business (as first line of defense), influence and instill a culture of ethics and compliance with all collaborators.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, AIAHK and Macau, the position will focus on the following activities:

Develop and maintain a suitable compliance assurance framework

  • Develop a fit-for-purpose compliance assurance framework that takes into account material compliance risks, internal and external reviews, resourcing, and business activities. 
  • Develop procedures and methodologies for the execution of compliance assurance activities in a consistent and objective manner. Establish standards for compliance monitoring and testing as vital
  • Maintain the compliance assurance framework on an ongoing basis 


Develop and implement compliance assurance activities

  • Develop compliance assurance activities, in coordination with the Compliance leadership team
  • Engage with collaborators toimplemente compliance assurance activities
  • Develop reports or memorandum outlining areas for improvement and provide recommendations
  • Track, validate and report on the completion of remediation activities
  • Implement special reviews on compliance risk areas as assigned by the Head of Compliance

Assessment of Reports and Management Information to Identify Compliance Risk Areas

  • Assess regulatory developments across HK and Macau, and where relevant, overseas jurisdictions, and develop assurance activities that help with proactively identifying compliance risk areas requiring improvement
  • Review and analyse reports issued by Global Internal Audit and other external reviewers and recommend control improvements
  • Review and analyse Compliance reports and management information to identify areas requiring improvement or specific assurance activities

The position may be advised to support with the coordination of regulatory and internal reviews.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a compliance professional in a financial institution, with at least 12 years of relevant experience. Experience in compliance monitoring, testing or internal audit highly preferred.
  • Qualified as a professional accountant (e.g., CPA).
  • Strong knowledge of industry compliance assurance practices.
  • Good knowledge in Hong Kong and Macau insurance and pension related regulations, or the ability to quickly acquire the knowledge.
  • Possesses an analytical mentality with excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated applied knowledge in data analytics highly preferred.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peers and senior management on compliance risk issues
