Innovation Lawyer – Capital Markets (18 months FTC)

About us

Linklaters is an international commercial law firm, with 31 offices in 21 countries worldwide. We are one of The Times’ Top 50 Employers for Women, a Working Families top 30 employer, recognised by Stonewall as the leading employer for LGBTQ+ inclusion, and by the Social Mobility Employer Index as a top employer for advancing social mobility.

The Capital Markets division has a bold and ambitious plan to grow its share of the business. Our ability to innovate to deliver exceptional experience for our clients and our people is key to our ability to grow and improve our margin by reducing cost of delivery. This includes ensuring we are leading edge and consistent in the ways/skills with which we deploy innovative tools, processes and alternative resources, to our matters day-to-day.

Your Role

We are looking to recruit an Innovation Lawyer to set and implement the Innovation & Efficiency agenda for the Capital Markets. This includes taking a lead on the prioritisation and delivery of a range of initiatives designed to:

  • ensure that all Capital Markets lawyers have the right level of knowledge and ability to select and deploy relevant tech tools on their matters, delivering a consistent client and matter team experience; and
  • think ahead, anticipating future ways of working; where we need to be experimenting now, to be ahead of the competition later.

The role will be closely supported by the Innovation team, LegalTech Application team, Process Improvement, Technology training and Projects & Change Delivery team, as well as the embedded Capital Markets Business Teams in different regions/offices (e.g. including Business Managers, BD & Marketing teams, Finance).

About you

  • Strong knowledge and experience of the core types of work carried out by the Capital Markets. At least 4PQE in a relevant area.
  • Ability to spot opportunities for improvement that might be answered by tech or process interventions (including, but not limited to, process redesign, design thinking, RPA, document automation, alternative resourcing) and encourage that mindset in others.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to deliver change - including the scoping of solutions and securing of resources to drive forward pieces of work.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with lawyers and clients at all levels to help them run their matters more effectively, as well as creative ideas for the most impactful dissemination of constantly updating content and information and training delivery skills.
  • A keen instinct for what is going on in the market (with regard to technology and ways of working) and curiosity to pursue new ideas and test relevance for the firm/Capital Markets.

Location

London.

Our commitment to you

You will be part of a vibrant people business that loves working collaboratively in a positive, supportive, fair and open atmosphere. We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity, celebrating all aspects of diversity because we want everyone to feel that they belong.

Linklaters provides a comprehensive benefits package across Health & Wellbeing, Finance & Protection and Family & Lifestyle, designed to reward the vital contribution you’ll be making to the firm’s success.

We embrace agility via our hybrid-working model.
