The Compliance Manager at FNZ is essential to supporting the organization’s strategic goals by providing expertise in risk and compliance management within the second line of defence. This role involves ensuring that FNZ's policies, systems, and documentation adhere to legal and regulatory standards and align with industry codes of practice. The Compliance Manager is responsible for maintaining compliance with privacy laws, including the Australian Privacy Principles, and supports governance committees by reporting on key risks that could impact FNZ's objectives. Additionally, this role protects FNZ's reputation with clients and regulatory bodies through diligent oversight and guidance on compliance matters.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a compliance assurance program, advising on regulatory changes, and continuously improving the Compliance Framework. The Compliance Manager will work closely with senior management and various teams, providing expertise on internal change projects, reviewing policies, and conducting regular audits to ensure compliance. By fostering a proactive approach to risk and compliance, this role contributes to the company’s culture of accountability and continuous improvement, while supporting the overall growth and delivery of FNZ’s services.

The responsibilities will include:  

  • Ensure the organisation and platform solutions comply with relevant legislation and regulation.  

  • Oversee the organisation’s compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations, including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and any applicable state or territory privacy legislation.

  • Help the business understand and meet its regulatory obligations.

  • Proactively monitor and report on new legislative developments.

  • Provide quality and timely regulatory and compliance advice to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Continuously review and improve the Compliance Framework, including supporting documentation and training/eLearning materials, to ensure they remain fit for purpose and align with existing and new regulatory requirements.

  • Review and update policies, processes, and procedures regarding custody licenses, contractual obligations, regulatory changes and applicable standards and codes of practice.

  • Ensure compliance and operational processes are in place to assist FNZ in meeting its AFSL requirements.

  • Participate in various projects as a regulatory and compliance subject matter expert, providing advice and approval as needed.

  • Identify and recommend improvements in systems, processes, products, sales, or services during compliance advisory activities.

  • Review and approve collateral, such as procedures, training materials, and website content.

  • Work closely with projects, delivery, and operations teams to embed ongoing compliance through auditing, process review and creation, reporting, training, and regular meetings.

  • Facilitate regulatory reporting across the business.

  • Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks on key compliance risks.

  • Promote proactive compliance through learning sessions, training, and scheduled business updates, demonstrating a strong commitment to compliance.

  • Provide structured and disciplined compliance advice and guidance.

  • Review and report on incidents and complaints.

What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate? 

  • Prior experience in Compliance Management role required.

  • Experience within the Australian Financial Services industry or Superannuation environment required.

  • Knowledge of Platform/Wrap offerings including IDPS/IDPS-like, SMA & MDA is advantageous.

  • Experience in interpreting regulatory change and supporting business teams to understand associated compliance requirements and applying changes to process and practice to meet identified requirements.

  • Demonstrated understanding of familiarity with relevant APRA Prudential Standards and ASIC Regulatory Guides.

  • Prior in-depth knowledge of reviewing and advising on disclosure documents in line with regulatory requirements.

  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to support required behavioral and cultural change, as well as possess strong commercial acumen and pragmatic approach to driving change.
