We are looking for a Senior Category Sourcing Manager who will collaborate with category supplier managers, supply chain, and business units (BUs) to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy as part of a distributed team. You must understand the market position of each supplier for specific commodities. You will assess suppliers' financial stability, ensure supply assurance, negotiate component pricing, and provide input and recommendations to Micron Management!

The Senior Category Supplier Manager, Semiconductor will be based out our San Jose, California or Boise, Idaho office.

This position also requires that you serve as the primary point owner of NAND Flash Storage Controller supplier management.

What’s Encouraged Daily:

  • Developing commodity sourcing strategy for the commodity of responsibility

  • Develop should cost models for the components of responsibility

  • Negotiate pricing and long term capacity to cost reduction and supply objectives

  • Deliver supplier evaluation /quarterly business review (QBR) scorecard metric targets to Category Team

  • Supervise compliance to regulatory and policy requirements

  • Ensure partner requirements are met through early engagement and expertise through the value chain

  • Maintain positive relationships with partners

  • Drive and sustain effective communication with internal and external partners

  • Work towards continuous process/system improvement/automation/optimization

  • Collaborate internally to develop key performance measures/metrics and supervise category and supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous performance improvement

  • Perform data analysis that can be brought to bear in negotiation and sourcing strategy

Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities. Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products purchased. As required, supervises the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure the best quality at the best value. May recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria.

Category Management & Strategic Sourcing

* Recommend resource levels across procurement sourcing categories, projects and functions.

* Establish procedures to supervise collaborator happiness with crucial suppliers.

* Improve value by suggesting targets that can increase high revenue, decrease spending, enhance purchasing efficiency, improve customer services, and optimally manage suppliers.

* Analyze sourcing trends and make recommendations for assigned categories.

* Participate in supplier segmentation and strategic goal-setting.

* Develop category strategies for managed categories and validate strategies with Global and Regional Category Managers/s and internal partners.

Cost Management & Analysis

* Identify and evaluate category-specific savings/revenue levers

* Drive category savings/revenue and scorecard metric targets

* Share market intelligence and category price trends with our collaborators within the company!

* Apply cost estimation models for assigned categories that are benchmarked and relevant to the global marketplace.

Negotiation

* Lead or participate in negotiations for contract extensions and renewals, renegotiation of prices, transfers, etc

* Lead sourcing events/RFQ process into bundled negotiation

* Incorporate savings targets and contract requirements into negotiations

* Develop a contract strategy for suppliers in assigned categories and build, negotiate, supervise and carry out contracted terms and conditions.

* Conduct strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiations, and cost management using supplier and industry analysis.

Business Partnering

* Collaborate with Customers to Deliver Strategic Solutions

* Develop and maintain expertise in the assigned spend categories through relationships with key collaborators.

* Drive customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement

* Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships to improve cost-effectiveness, supply chain efficiency, and resilience

How To Qualify:

  • 5+ years experience in any field: ASIC Procurement, Semiconductor Fab planning, or  ASIC Supply Management

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, (Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field) preferred or work experience.

  • Ability to quickly assemble and analyze data and grasp customer requirements under time constraints in a changing environment

  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Communication/Presentation skills vital to present Micron to the suppliers

  • Problem solving and project management skills

  • Ability to work independently or with a cross-functional team

  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, MS Word. SAP experience preferred

  • Experience/knowledge with silicon supply management is preferred

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$82,000.00 - $178,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.  The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.  The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
