Position Details

Tilson is hiring for a leadership opportunity overseeing its largest Fiber to the Home (FTTH) program based in Las Vegas.

 

The Associate Vice President plays a vital role in Tilson’s Network Delivery leadership team, overseeing Outside Plant Project Management, Construction (microtrenching, HDD, and splicing), Engineering, and Customer Operations teams.  The ideal candidate for this role has demonstrated experience directly overseeing large-scale regional operations as well as new market creation, has strong contract and financial acumen, understands organizational structure needs to meet project changes, is an excellent collaborator with internal and external stakeholders, interfaces with multiple levels of teams to form them, provide training, and ongoing mentorship, and hold them accountable for project goals. This role builds and maintains partnerships with a variety of stakeholders, vendors, subcontractors and the governments of the communities served. Open to relocation for the right candidate.

Core areas of focus include:

  • Adept telecom financial acumen with P&L responsibility for multiple programs.

  • Attract and retain key management talent at all levels of the business (Directors, Project Managers, Construction Managers, Supervisors).

  • Strategic business development with core customers and Outside Plant opportunities.

  • Cash Flow – focus on project milestone management, AP/AR, and invoicing to drive profitability.

  • Develop stable of vendor partners local to the market.

  • Ensure highest safety standards are met; Be the Operational Safety Leader

Responsibilities:

  • Build a high-performing, safety-minded team with a focus on employee development and  engagement

  • Lead, coach and develop business line leaders and staff on operational execution including strong financial management of projects and programs.

  • Program P&L responsibilities with aggressive growth targets.

  • Direct daily departmental cash management activities ensuring purchase orders are in hand, invoices are generated timely and that AR balances remain in acceptable levels.

  • Cultivate and maintain sub-contractor partnerships for Horizontal Drilling, Splicing, and Micro Trenching.

  • Implementation of Tilson and divisional strategy including development of both short term and long-term strategic goals and initiatives.

  • Responsible for the safety, operations, innovation, and quality of services provided by the team to its customers and internal stakeholders nationwide.

  • Be actively engaged in growing the business, including new business development and the development of strategic partnerships.

  • Responsible for ensuring a high level of satisfaction for the services provided by the Tilson teams to their customers.

  • Develop monthly, quarterly, and yearly project-based financial and productivity forecasts and measure success against forecast.

  • Deploy solutions to ensure budgets and forecasts are met and changes to forecasts are communicated timely.

  • Provide executive account management and business development for key clients.

  • Evaluate overall workforce development strategy and work with HR Business Partner to ensure human resources, training and development plans align with growth objectives.

  • Provide point of escalation for internal and external stakeholders and serve as the accountable escalation and decision maker.

  • Work with peers and senior management to ensure development and implementation of processes and tools is aligned with yearly and long-term goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial modeling with a focus on understanding the business behind the numbers.

  • Extensive experience with telecom End to End process from NTP to project closeout.

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering or related degree or equivalent experience.

  • Must have relevant telecom experience in outside plant engineering and construction with focus on Underground Construction and Micro Trenching.

  • Preferred experience with underground telecom construction in the Las Vegas market.

  • Experienced in Project Management and in leading project management teams.

  • Experienced in working fiber carriers and have a deep understanding of the industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to grow a business.

  • Must have strong leadership and organizational development skills.

  • Proven experience driving growth and profitability in a high pace, technical field.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Willingness to work extended hours with 50% travel within the region.

  • Proven record of working successfully with ambiguous information and limited direction.

Tilson leads with integrity around pay transparency; as part of the compensation plan for this position you can expect a pay range of:

$175,000.00 - $225,000.00
