As a Director, Software Engineering you will be part of the People Technology team within Walmart Global Tech. We are defining the leading edge of technology to provide innovative solutions to our business customers to help support the millions of Associates employed at Walmart. As part of People Tech Platform, we have embarked on an exciting journey of modernizing and transforming the People software which supports the US and international associates, hiring managers and recruiters.

The Enterprise People Technology team supports the successful deployment and adoption of new associate tools across the enterprise. About The Team:
People Technology is one of the major segments of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Services, which is invested in building a compact, robust organization that includes service operations and technology solutions for Finance, People, and the Associate Digital Experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Influence, coach, and be a servant leader to multiple integration teams focused on transformative products within our People Technology space

  • Builds strong and trusting relationships with the business stakeholders with more engagement, collaboration, and facetime beyond the 4ITB meetings

  • Provide guidance in applying the right architectural pattern for the modernization of the applications by analyzing the gaps between existing architecture and new business requirements

  • Partner with People AI team to set a foundation for an Associate AI platform with a platform-first approach

  • Drive automation using more adoption and maturity on the CICD stage gates for the applications

  • Drive implementation of telemetry features based on the domain requirements to improve the overall operational excellence of the application

  • Knowledge of Software architecture, Distributed systems, Scalability, Design patterns, Disaster Recovery

  • Technical leadership in building a complex microservices based platform or product that are highly reliable, and scalable

  • Drive technical impact analysis, conduct RCAs with corrective actions for both short & long term fixes and prevent them from re-occurring

  • Develop close partnerships with our Product, People API, and Workday teams to drive innovation as we deliver on commitments to our business customers

  • Operating with excellence – Set an example in managing to KPIs, delivering excellence, presenting at all levels, and developing yourself and others

  • Analyze system performance impacting the complete product for non-functional requirements like reliability, operability, performance efficiency and security

  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent

  • Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy


What You'll Bring:

  • Technical Proficiency in one or more of the web languages such as Java, Python, React Native, Node JS, React JS, GraphQL 

  • Deep working knowledge of all aspects of Cloud native distributed system development: Azure/ GCP/ WCNP preferred

  • Experience working on people tech services

  • Experience working with micro-services architecture and distributed systems.

  • Experience in all areas of engineering including DevOps, SRE, and on-call rotations to assure service availability and operational excellence

  • Experience managing software development engineers, leaders, architects and leading engineering projects, guiding engineering teams on engineering excellence & solid system design

  • Experience partnering with cross-functional project development and in collaborating with other scrum teams, QA, Release Management, Program Management, and TechOps

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.



3 years' supervisory experience.
