The Network Engineer III will supervise our networking framework and help move us toward a resilient, robust, and secure network across all our locations. We run a national business with two large corporate centers and 16 regional offices, with compute resources running in AWS & Azure. We’re looking for a person who has knowledge of current best-practices regarding security, network design, cloud integration, and the positive energy to ensure we further our mission, “Together with you, we make a house a home.”

You will be helping to support our entire enterprise, as well as software engineering teams, security, and other technology functions as we build the next wave of technologies that will drive our resident experience to the next level.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex nationwide networks (WAN, LAN, VPC, VLAN)
  • Documentation of all networks, including diagrams, and run books
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues including site to site, and site to cloud instances
  • Interface with the security team to design and configure networks that are hardened and protected
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and equipment KLO, sometimes after hours
  • Develop and implement bests practices for the enterprise design and monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions that will make a hands-off environment
  • Keep apprised of current licensing and contracts regarding network equipment
  • Maintain inventory and asset configuration documentation
  • Assist with negotiations on cost to performance, including equipment and services
  • Carry out special tasks at Management’s direction
  • Be the company’s voice when dealing with partners and vendors
  • Participate in any audits and have germane information ready and properly documented
  • Remediate all network vulnerabilities
  • Keep systems current
  • Work with networking vendor to ensure security and configuration of networks

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years as a network engineer, showing progressive growth
  • Deep understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
  • SDWAN expertise
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, etc)
  • Transit gateway experience
  • AWS VPC configuration and management
  • Strong knowledge in telephony, RingCentral preferred
  • Strong knowledge in network engineering, Fortinet experience preferred
  • Seasoned in audio video standards and hardware, Zoom and Poly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of endpoint security and best practices
  • Intrusion detection experience and configuration
  • Telephony and video conferencing network configuration and troubleshooting

Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Diagnose and resolve complex networking connectivity problems
  • Deep background in network administration and architecture
  • Extensive knowledge on network operating systems and Fortinet products
  • Extensive knowledge of RingCentral’s telephony offering
  • Knowledge of Zoom and Poly AV equipment, including cameras, speakers, TVs, etc
  • Approach all activities with security as the key driving principle
  • Great communicator, able to boil down networking terminology to others
  • Extensive knowledge of subnetting, NAT and creating VLANs
  • Thorough knowledge with firewalls best-practices, configuring, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
  • Network optimization
  • Network monitoring and policy enforcement

Required Licenses or Certifications

  • Fortinet NSE 4 certification preferred

Other Requirements

  • 25%-50% travel required
  • Prior experience in a similar role within a mid to large-sized organization

  • Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; Overtime may be required for this position. 

Physical and Mental Demands

This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate and communicate. Work Environment

Standard office working environment that may be busy and noisy at times.

Salary Range

$82,800.00 - $143,520.00
