What you will be doing:
The Revenue Accountant is an integral part in the recording and analysis of revenue and deferred revenue. The role assists the Revenue Team in the analysis of contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable regulatory requirements. The Revenue Accountant creates and processes monthly revenue journal entries and maintains and updates deferred revenue schedules and contract costs reports.
The Revenue Accountant determines appropriate revenue recognition and appropriate application of contract costs guidance. The position assists with monthly, quarterly, and/or annual closing procedures. The Revenue Accountant works with accounts receivable as well as various other groups within Finance and other internal groups to maintain adherence to accounting guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility #1 – 20%
Assist in reviewing customer contracts for any revenue recognition issues for software license or subscriptions as well as consulting contracts
Responsibility #2 -- 20%
Maintain deferred revenue schedules by adding new contracts or adjusting existing contracts.
Responsibility #3 –20%
Assist in determining appropriate application of contract costs guidance as well as preparing journal entries, analytics, and reconciliations for contract costs.
Responsibility #4 –20%
Create and process monthly revenue journal entries
Responsibility #5 –20%
Prepare analytics for revenue and associated balance sheet accounts and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
